June 12 Devotional
Dear Friends,
This will be my last devotional for a while due to travel plans etc. I do love the words though. It’s easy to complain about our situations, problems etc. But, grumbling is not of God. The way of peace is of God and our ability to shine light into darkness wherever we go. This is our calling each and every day. Maybe we should ask ourselves as we go to bed each night, did I shine light today? Did I help put a smile on someone’s face? Did I share Christ in words, or deeds? Thank you all for shinning your light into my world and in our community each and every week. You are such a blessing! Be at peace. Be love. Hugs, scott

Let Me Help You get through this day. There are many possible paths to travel between your getting up in the morning and your lying down at night. Stay alert to the many choice-points along the way, being continually aware of My Presence. You will get through this day one way or the other. One way is to moan and groan, stumbling along with shuffling feet. This will get you to the end of the day eventually, but there is a better way. You can choose to walk with Me along the path of Peace, leaning on Me as much as you need. There will still be difficulties along the way, but you can face them confidently in My strength. Thank Me for each problem you encounter, and watch to see how I transform trials into blessings.
1 Corinthians 10:10 10And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.
Luke 1:79 79to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

June 11th Devotional
Dear Friends,
I love it when people come up to me and say how wonderful the music was and how it blessed them. It gives me an opportunity to tell them how blessed I am to have such wonderfully talented and dedicated singers, ringers and instrumentalists! There was no fear in us last night. We all came to worship and to serve, and that’s exactly what we did! Thank you ALL for your faithfulness and for using your gifts for God. To me, you all embody today’s devotional. Keep on singing and playing for God. Blessings abound where He is found. Hugs and Much Love, Scott

Trust Me and don’t be afraid, for I am your Strength and Song. Do not let fear dissipate your energy. Instead, invest your energy in trusting Me and singing My Song. The battle for control of your mind is fierce, and years of worry have made you vulnerable to the enemy. Therefore, you need to be vigilant in guarding your thoughts. Do not despise this weakness in yourself, since I am using it to draw you closer to Me. Your constant need for Me creates an intimacy that is well worth all the effort. You are not alone in this struggle for your mind. My Spirit living within you is ever ready to help in this striving. Ask Him to control your mind; He will bless you with Life and Peace.
Isaiah 12:2 2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”
Romans 8:6 6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;

Reminders about tonight
Choir needs to be in the choir room, robed and ready to go in your seats at 6:30pm. I put your names in the seats in the choir room because there have been a few changes since the other night.
Orchestra will meet Scott in the Sanctuary at 6:30pm, ready to play. You will be wearing black. Your instrument cases will need to go in the music library in the choir room, so make sure you have time to drop it off before you head to the Sanctuary.
We have been asked to park across the street at the Church of Christ to leave parking spaces for the individuals attending the service. There will be a bus running back and forth between the church and the parking lot, so that if you do not feel comfortable walking across the 4 lanes of traffic-have no fear! You can hitch a ride:)
Thanks so much for your service and being a part of this special worship opportunity! Everyone that has had a chance to volunteer the past few days can tell you that the conference attendees have been blown away by our church and our wonderful volunteers! Wait until they hear our musicians! 🙂
See you tonight!

June 10 devotional
Dear Friends,
As I write this, there’s a lot on my mind. Beauty of it is, God is also on my mind. Yes, there’s room for both God and whatever else is going on, especially is He’s the one in control. I pray you are blessed today and every day as you go through your daily routine. Don’t forget God! Peace, scott

Rest In Me, My Child. Give your mind a break from planning and trying to anticipate what will happen. Pray continually, asking My Spirit to take charge of the details of this day. Remember that you are on a journey with Me. When you try to peer into the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore your constant Companion, who sustains you moment by moment. As you gaze anxiously into the distance, you don’t even feel the strong grip of My hand holding yours. How foolish you are, My child!
Daily Devotional from “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young
Remembrance of Me is a daily discipline. Never lose sight of My Presence with you. This will keep you resting in Me all day, every day.
Deuteronomy 12:10 10 But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety.
Psalm 62:5 5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

June 4th Devotional
Dear Friends,
I want to thank you all for your presence last night for our dress rehearsal for the Annual Conference Ordination Service. What a glorious time to be a part of commissioning and ordaining those that are called to serve as pastors and elders in ministry. It’s a “big deal” to say the least! And, of course, as always, we want everything to be perfect for our guests. But today’s devotional reminds us that our futile striving for perfection can lead to worshiping false idols. Yikes! That’s serious! Musically speaking, I am always striving for perfection, knowing full well that it’s unattainable. I, like you, want to bring my best to the Master, but keeping in mind that whatever I bring (sing, ring or play) is ultimately for Him and He knows my heart. May we all be perfectly imperfect with a joyful heart full of love for our Creator. Amen!

Remember that you live in a fallen world: an abnormal world tainted by sin. Much frustration and failure result from your seeking perfection in this life. There is nothing perfect in this world except Me. That is why closeness to Me satisfies deep yearnings and fills you with Joy.
Daily Devotional from “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young
I have planted longing for perfection in every human heart. This is a good desire, which I alone can fulfill. But most people seek this fulfillment in other people and earthly pleasures or achievements. Thus they create idols, before which they bow down. I will have no other gods before Me! Make Me the deepest desire of your heart. Let Me fulfill your yearning for perfection.
Exodus 20:3 3 “You must not have any other god but me.
Psalm 37:4 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
