October 23 Devotional

Dear Friends,

May joy, eternal joy and peace, be yours today and everyday as you faithfully seek Him.  Be blessed and know that God is with you and loving you no matter what!  Peace and Love, Scott

No Matter What your circumstances may be, you can find Joy in My Presence.  On some days Joy is generously strewn along your life-path, glistening in the sunlight.  On days like that, being content is as simple as breathing the next breath or taking the next step.  Other days are overcast and gloomy; you feel the strain of the journey, which seems endless.  Dull, gray rocks greet your gaze and cause your feet to ache.  Yet Joy is still attainable.  Search for it as for hidden treasure.

Begin by remembering that I have created this day; it is not a chance occurrence.  Recall that I am present with you whether you sense My Presence or not.  Then, start talking with Me about whatever is on your mind.  Rejoice in the fact that I understand  you perfectly, and I know exactly what you are experiencing.  As you continue communicating with Me, your mood will gradually lighten.  Awareness of My marvelous Companionship can infuse Joy into the grayest day.

Psalm 21:6  6 Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

Proverbs 2:4
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure

October 22 Devotional

Dear Friends,
I remember the first point of David Alexander’s sermon this past Sunday: “You are doing better than you think you are”.  So, in the presence of God, we can indeed feel His love, light and warmth as He delights us with His “heavenly smile of approval”.  Be blessed in this!  Peace and Love, Scott
________________________________________________________

As You Turn Your Attention to Me, feel the Light of My Presence shining upon you.  Open your mind and heart to receive My heavenly smile of approval.  Let My gold-tinged Love wash over you and soak into the depths of your being.  As you are increasingly filled with My Being, you experience joyous union with Me: I in you, and you in Me.  Your Joy-in-Me and My Joy-in-you become intertwined and inseparable.  I suffuse your soul with Joy in My Presence; at My right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

John 7:20-23 20 “You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?” 21Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all astonished. 22Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a child on the Sabbath. 23Now if a child can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on the Sabbath?

Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand arepleasures forevermore.

October 21 Devotional

Dear Friends,
This beautiful devotional today reminds us that all that we have is a gift from God, including our very lives.  How blessed we are to have all that we have, to be alive and to have the opportunity to serve our Lord each week.  But even if all was taken away, we still would have the love of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.  Be blessed as you give thanks for all of His many gifts.  Peace and Love, Scott

To Live in My Presence consistently, you must expose and expel your rebellious tendencies.  When something interferes with your plans or desires, you tend to resent the interference.  Try to become aware of each resentment, however petty it may seem.  Don’t push those unpleasant feelings down; instead, let them come to the surface where you can deal with them.  Ask My Spirit to increase your awareness of resentful feelings.  Bring them boldly into the Light of My Presence, so that I can free you from them.

The ultimate solution to rebellious tendencies is submission to My authority over you.  Intellectually you rejoice in My sovereignty, without which the world would be a terrifying place.  But when My sovereign will encroaches on your little domain of control, you often react with telltale resentment.

The best response to losses or thwarted hopes is praise:The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.  Blessed be the name of the Lord.  Remember that all good things-your possessions, your family and friends, your health and abilities, your time-are gifts from Me.  Instead of feeling entitled to all these blessings, respond to them with gratitude.  Be prepared to let go of anything I take from you, but never let go of My hand!

Psalm 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

1 Peter 5:6
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Job 1:21 (NASB)
21He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away.  Blessed be the name of the LORD.”

October 20 Devotional

Dear Friends,
My grandmother,  Mildred, is 90 years young.  She lives by herself in Greenville South Carolina in the same house that she and Papa bought when they were first married many years ago.  Grandma glows with the light of love and seems to defy the years she has spent on this earth.  Today’s devotional addresses the weakness of our bodies as we age, yet highlights the inner strength that comes with a life lived in Christ.  I pray it blesses you today and every day as you grow in faith.  Love, Scott

I Am Your Living God, far more abundantly alive than the most vivacious person you know.  The human body is wonderfully crafted, but gravity and the inevitable effects of aging weigh it down.  Even the most superb athlete cannot maintain his fitness over many decades.  Lasting abundant life can be found in Me alone.  Do not be anxious about the weakness of your body.  Instead, view it as the prelude to My energy’s infusion into your life.

As you identify more and more fully with Me, My Life becomes increasingly intertwined with yours.  Though the process of aging continues, inwardly you grow stronger with the passing years.  Those who live close to Me develop an inner aliveness that makes them seem youthful in spite of their years.  Let My Life shine through you, as you walk in the Light with Me.

Colossians 1:29  29To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.

1 John 1:7
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood ofJesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Dearly Beloved,
So many in our world look to other things or people for help, comfort and companionship.  Many times they are attempting to escape their own reality and the circumstances surrounding them.  Of course, God created us for each other and we are pre-wired for companionship and love–it’s God in each of us I think.  But, more importantly, God created us to be in relationship with Him first.  Do this and you will find life abundantly, overflowing and eternal.  Peace and Love!  Scott

Look To Me Continually

for help, comfort, and companionship.  Because I am always by your side, the briefest glance can connect you with Me.  When you look to Me for help, it flows freely from My Presence.  This recognition of your need for Me, in small matters as well as in large ones, keeps you spiritually alive.

When you need comfort, I love to enfold you in My arms. I enable you not only to feel comforted but also to be a channel through whom I comfort others.  Thus you are doubly blessed, because a living channel absorbs some of whatever flows through it.

My constant Companionship is the piece de resistance:the summit of salvation blessings.  No matter what losses you experience in your life, no one can take away this glorious gift.

Psalm 34:5 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Psalm 105:4
4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

October 15 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Today’s devotional is about awareness and focus.  Knowing that God is with us every step of the way gives us much comfort and peace.  Staying focused on His path for us, and not the path that we or others would choose, is the path to an abundant life lived in Christ.  Be blessed as you pray and meditate upon His word.  Hugs! Scott

Try To Stay Conscious Of Me as you go step by step through this day.  My Presence with you is both a promise and a protection.  My final statement just before I ascended into heaven was: Surely I am with you always.  That promise was for all of My followers, without exception.

The promise of My Presence is a powerful protection.  As you journey through your life, there are numerous pitfalls along the way.  Many voices clamor for your attention, enticing you to go their way.  A few steps away from your true path are pits of self-pity and despair, plateaus of pride and self-will.  If you take your eyes off Me and follow another’s way, you are in grave danger.  Even well-meaning friends can lead you astray if you let them usurp My place in your life.  The way to stay on the path of Life is to keep your focus on Me.  Awareness of My Presence is your best protection.

Matthew 28:20 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Hebrews 12:1-2
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

October 14th Devotional

Dear Friends,
This is such an amazing devotional.  Our human instinct, when it comes to pain and suffering, is to say “why me”?  Who among us would say “thank you God for this opportunity grow in my faith and trust in you”!  We might eventually say that, but our first reaction might be the former.  So, in all things give thanks and know that God is with us, loving us and sustaining us no matter what!  Peace and Love Friends, Scott

Be Prepared To Suffer For Me, in My Name.  All suffering has meaning in My kingdom.  Pain and problems are opportunities to demonstrate your trust in Me.  Bearing your circumstances bravely-even thanking Me for them-is one of the highest forms of praise.  This sacrifice of thanksgiving rings golden-toned bells of Joy throughout heavenly realms.  On earth also, your patient suffering sends out ripples of good tidings in ever-widening circles.

When suffering strikes, remember that I am sovereign and that I can bring good out of everything.  Do not try to run from pain or hide from problems.  Instead, accept adversity in My Name, offering it up to Me for My purposes.  Thus, your suffering gains meaning and draws you closer to Me.  Joy emerges from the ashes of adversity through your trust and thankfulness.

James 1:2-4 2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Psalm 107:21-22
21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. 22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.
