November 3rd Devotional

Dear Friends,
We all experience “setbacks” once in a while.  Some are major setbacks, while others seem to be minor.  Disappointments are simply a part of life for everyone, but for the Christian, even during our temporary disappointments, we can still have faith and know that God has a plan for us.  Be blessed during these opportunities to grow in your faith and know that God is in control.  Hugs and Love, Scott

Every Time something thwarts your plans or desires, use that as a reminder to communicate with Me.  This practice has several benefits.  The first is obvious: talking with Me blesses you and strengthens our relationship.  Another benefit is that disappointments, instead of dragging you down, are transformed into opportunities for good.  This transformation removes the sting from difficult circumstances, making it possible to be joyful in the midst of adversity.Begin by practicing this discipline in all the little disappointments of daily life.  It is often these minor setbacks that draw you away from My Presence.  When you reframesetbacks as opportunities, you find that you gain much more than you have lost.  It is only after much training that you can accept major losses in this positive way.  But it is possible to attain the perspective of the apostle Paul, who wrote: Compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, I consider everything I once treasured to be as insignificant as rubbish.Colossians 4:2

2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Philippians 3:7-8
7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.

October 31st devotional

Dear Friends,

I’m amazed at those who offer counsel to others.  Pastors, Counselors, friends and family who listen and offer advise to others are indeed walking on holy ground.  My wife, Cheryl, is an elementary counselor at Boren elementary here in Mansfield.  First of all, I could NEVER do her job.  She is simply amazing at what she does and how she handles each situation.  Sometimes she tells me that she does not know where the words come from when she’s helping a student in need, but the right words come out at the right time and a student is blessed by them.  She knows and we all know that she is living in the Spirit at that precise moment.  Beautiful!  So, read today’s devotional and do your best to live in the Spirit at all times.  Hugs and Love, Scott

Learn To Listen To Me even while you are listening to other people. As they open their souls to your scrutiny, you are on holy ground. You need the help of My Spirit to respond appropriately. Ask Him to think through you, live through you, love through you. My own Being is alive within you in the Person of the Holy Spirit. If you respond to others’ needs through your unaided thought processes, you offer them dry crumbs. My streams of living water flow through you to other people. Be a channel of My Love, Joy, and Peace by listening to Me as you listen to others.

Exodus 3:5 5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

1 Corinthians 6:19
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.

John 7:38-39
38Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” 39By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

October 29th Devotional

Dear Beloved,
I’m not a morning person by nature, but I usually get up ready to tackle the day.  Full steam ahead!  However, today’s devotional is a great reminder that our alone time with God should be our #1 priority at the start of each new day.  Try telling this to a mama who’s doing her best to get the kids dressed and off to school!  But, again, I find the day will be go much better if I put God’s agenda first and mine second.  Be blessed friends!  See you tonight!  Scott

Linger In My Presence A While.  Rein in your impulses to plunge into the day’s activities.  Beginning your day alone with Me is essential preparation for success.  A great athlete takes time to prepare himself mentally for the feat ahead of him before he moves a muscle.  Similarly, your time of being still in My Presence equips you for the day ahead of you.  Only I know what will happen to you this day.  I have arranged the events you will encounter as you go along your way.  If you are not adequately equipped for the journey, you will grow weary and lose heart.  Relax with Me while I ready you for action.

Ephesians 2:10 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Hebrews 12:3
3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

October 27th Devotional

Dear Friends,
Living each day as a Christian is exciting and never dull.  How do I know this?  Because God is always creating and recreating us and our world.  It’s a beautiful way to live, but it can be challenging as well.  Each day you have a choice to make.  I pray today that you live in the Spirit and with God, our divine Creator.  Peace and Love, Scott

As You Become increasingly aware of My Presence, you find it easier to discern the way you should go.  This is one of the practical benefits of living close to Me.  Instead of wondering about what is on the road ahead or worrying about what you should do if…or when…,you can concentrate on staying in communication with Me.  When you actually arrive at a choice-point, I will show you which direction to go.

Many people are so preoccupied with future plans and decisions that they fail to see choices they need to make today.  Without any conscious awareness, they make their habitual responses.  People who live this way find a dullness creeping into their lives.  They sleepwalk through their days, following well-worn paths of routine.

I, the Creator of the universe, am the most creative Being imaginable.  I will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths.  Instead, I will lead you along fresh trails of adventure, revealing to you things you did not know.  Stay in communication with Me; following My guiding Presence.

Psalm 32:8 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

October 23 Devotional

Dear Friends,

May joy, eternal joy and peace, be yours today and everyday as you faithfully seek Him.  Be blessed and know that God is with you and loving you no matter what!  Peace and Love, Scott

No Matter What your circumstances may be, you can find Joy in My Presence.  On some days Joy is generously strewn along your life-path, glistening in the sunlight.  On days like that, being content is as simple as breathing the next breath or taking the next step.  Other days are overcast and gloomy; you feel the strain of the journey, which seems endless.  Dull, gray rocks greet your gaze and cause your feet to ache.  Yet Joy is still attainable.  Search for it as for hidden treasure.

Begin by remembering that I have created this day; it is not a chance occurrence.  Recall that I am present with you whether you sense My Presence or not.  Then, start talking with Me about whatever is on your mind.  Rejoice in the fact that I understand  you perfectly, and I know exactly what you are experiencing.  As you continue communicating with Me, your mood will gradually lighten.  Awareness of My marvelous Companionship can infuse Joy into the grayest day.

Psalm 21:6  6 Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

Proverbs 2:4
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure
