March 18 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Love today’s devotional!  If you’re like me, you’ve probably read any one of the series of self-help books telling us to “not sweat the small stuff”.  Well, Jesus said it first!  Trust and keep your eyes on Him!  Peace, Scott
______________________________________________________

Trust Me One Day At A Time.  Trust keeps you close to Me, responsive to My will.  Trust is not a natural response, especially for those who have been deeply wounded.  My Spirit within you is your resident Tutor, helping you in this supernatural endeavor.  Yield to His gentle touch; be sensitive to his prompting.

Exert your will to trust Me in all circumstances.  Don’t let your need to understand distract you from My Presence.  I will equip you to get through this day victoriously, as you live in deep dependence on Me.  Tomorrow is busy worrying about itself, don’t get tangled up in its worry-webs.  Trust Me one day at a time.

Psalm 84:12
12 O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

Matthew 6:34
34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Dear Friends,
I’m loving this “Grace” sermon series aren’t you?  We are freely given grace so that we can give grace to others.  The light of Christ illuminates our soul so that we can shine for others.  What a joy it is to serve others, to be a light in the darkness and to know that Christ will never leave us.  Amen!  Love and Hugs, scott

Come To Me For Understanding, since I know you far better than you know yourself.  I comprehend you in all your complexity; no detail of your life is hidden from Me.  I view you through eyes of grace, so don’t be afraid of My intimate awareness.  Allow the Light of My healing Presence to shine into the deepest recesses of your being-cleansing, healing, refreshing, and renewing you.  Trust Me enough to accept the full forgiveness that I offer you continually.  This great gift, which cost Me My Life, is yours for all eternity.  Forgiveness is at the very core of My abiding Presence.  I will never leave you or forsake you.

When no one else seems to understand you, simply draw closer to Me.  Rejoice in the One who understands you completely and loves you perfectly.  As I fill you with My Love, you become a reservoir of love, overflowing into the lives of other people.

Psalm 139:1-4
1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22
21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Joshua 1:5
5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

March 11 Devotional

Dear Friends,
As we quickly approach Easter (April 5th!) the tasks that loom before us can be daunting.  As singing and playing servants of Christ, we are called to do more than our brothers and sisters during Holy Week.  It is a joy to serve, but difficult as well.  This is why we must remember to live in the spirit and tap into the source of strength that never runs dry.  Whatever your cross to bear is, God is Big Enough to help you carry it.  Be blessed!  Love and Peace, Scott
________________________________________________________

Walk By Faith, Not By Sight.   As you take steps of faith, depending on Me, I will show you how much I can do for you.  If you live your life too safely, you will never know the thrill of seeing Me work through you.  When I gave you My Spirit, I empowered you to live beyond your natural ability and strength.  That’s why it is so wrong to measure your energy level against the challenges ahead of you.  The issue is not your strength but Mine, which is limitless.  By walking close to Me, you can accomplish My purposes in My strength.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

March 10 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Where does confidence and security come from?  Those that do not know God, feebly attempt to find these in their own abilities and in other possessions.  We are secure in the Creator of the Universe!  Now that’s confidence!  Be blessed in this friends.  Love, Scott

You Are Mine For All Time—-and beyond, into eternity. No power can deny you your inheritance in heaven. I want you to realize how utterly secure you are! Even if you falter as you journey through life, I will never let go of your hand.

Knowing that your future is absolutely assured can free you to live abundantly today. I have prepared this day for you with the most tender concern and attention to detail. Instead of approaching the day as a blank page that you need to fill up, try living it in a responsive mode, being on the lookout for all that I am doing. This sounds easy, but it requires a deep level of trust, based on the knowledge that My way is perfect.

Psalm 27:23-24 23 If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 18:30 30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

March 9th Devotional

disaster-planDear Friends,
Today’s devotional reminds me of a hurricane.  As the winds blow and swirl around at hundreds of miles per hour, in the center of the hurricane it is calm and still.  Jesus is the “eye” of our hurricane of life!  Be blessed as you rest in the center of Him so that you can be salt and light to others.  Much Love, Scott
______________________________________________________________________________
Rest In My Radiant Presence.  The world around you seems to spin faster and faster, till everything is a blur.  Yet there is a cushion of calm at the center of your life, where you live in union with Me.  Return to this soothing Center as often as you can, for this is where you are energized: filled with My Love, Joy, and Peace. The world is a needy place; do not go there for sustenance.  Instead, come to Me; learn to depend on Me alone, and your weakness will come saturated with My Power.  When you find your completeness in Me, you can help other people without using them to meet your own needs.  Live in the Light of My Presence, and your light will shine brightly into the lives of others.

Galatians 5:22 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

1John 4:12
12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Rehearsal is ON for tonight

Just a reminder that we are rehearsing tonight at our normal times: 6pm for Chancel Bells/Orchestra and 7pm for Chancel Choir. We’ll keep an eye on temperatures and end a little early if need be.

Obviously we want everyone to be safe on the roads, but with only 5 more rehearsals before Easter, every rehearsal is very important! The snow is melting quickly now that the sun is out and the temperatures are warming up a bit. Still be very cautious and give yourself some extra time to make it to rehearsal!

See you tonight!

March 5 Devotional

Dear Friends,
We all have problems.  As Christians, we deal with problems differently than others who do not walk by faith.  We are called to give thanks for our problems and to give them to God.  The Apostle Paul had a problem.  This “thorn in his side” was so problematic that he asked God to take it from him.  Three times he asked this and three times God said “no”.  However, God did remind Paul that “my grace is sufficient for you”.  So, know that you are not alone in your problems and, just like Paul, the love and grace of God will sustain you despite your problems.  Be blessed in this.  Peace and Love, Scott
_______________________________________________________________________________

Make Friends With The Problems In Your Life.  Though many things feel random and wrong, remember that I am sovereign over everything.  I can fit everything into a pattern for good, but only to the extent that you trust Me.  Every problem can teach you something, transforming you little by little into the masterpiece I created you to be.  The very same problem can become a stumbling block over which you fall, if you react with distrust and defiance.  The choice is up to you, and you will have to choose many times each day whether to trust Me or defy Me.

The best way to befriend your problems is to thank Me for them.  This simple act opens your mind to the possibility of benefits flowing from your difficulties.  You can even give persistent problems nicknames, helping you to approach them with familiarity rather that with dread.  The next step is to introduce them to Me, enabling Me to embrace them in My loving Presence.  I will not necessarily remove your problems, but My wisdom is sufficient to bring good out of every one of them.

Romans 8:28 (AMP) 28We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

1 Corinthians 1:23-24
23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God hascalled, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

March 3 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Ever hear voices inside your mind?  Don’t worry–you’re not alone!  🙂  It is difficult to sort through the barrage of voices that compete for our attention.  Go for that “still, small, voice” that will never ask you to do anything God can’t bless.  Keep trying no matter what and God will bless you for it!  Peace and Love, Scott
_____________________________________________________

I Love You For Who You Are, not for what you do.  Many voices vie for control of your mind, especially when you sit in silence.  You must learn to discern what is My voice and what is not.  Ask My Spirit to give you this discernment.  Many of My children run around in circles, trying to obey the many voices directing their lives.  This results in fragmented, frustrating patterns of living.  Do not fall into this trap.  Walk closely with Me each moment, listening for My directives and enjoying My Companionship.  Refuse to let other voices tie you up in knots.  My sheep know My voice and follow Me wherever I lead.

Ephesians 4:1-6
1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

John 10:4
4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
