Rehearsal is ON for tonight

Just a reminder that we are rehearsing tonight at our normal times: 6pm for Chancel Bells/Orchestra and 7pm for Chancel Choir. We’ll keep an eye on temperatures and end a little early if need be.

Obviously we want everyone to be safe on the roads, but with only 5 more rehearsals before Easter, every rehearsal is very important! The snow is melting quickly now that the sun is out and the temperatures are warming up a bit. Still be very cautious and give yourself some extra time to make it to rehearsal!

See you tonight!

March 5 Devotional

Dear Friends,
We all have problems.  As Christians, we deal with problems differently than others who do not walk by faith.  We are called to give thanks for our problems and to give them to God.  The Apostle Paul had a problem.  This “thorn in his side” was so problematic that he asked God to take it from him.  Three times he asked this and three times God said “no”.  However, God did remind Paul that “my grace is sufficient for you”.  So, know that you are not alone in your problems and, just like Paul, the love and grace of God will sustain you despite your problems.  Be blessed in this.  Peace and Love, Scott

Make Friends With The Problems In Your Life.  Though many things feel random and wrong, remember that I am sovereign over everything.  I can fit everything into a pattern for good, but only to the extent that you trust Me.  Every problem can teach you something, transforming you little by little into the masterpiece I created you to be.  The very same problem can become a stumbling block over which you fall, if you react with distrust and defiance.  The choice is up to you, and you will have to choose many times each day whether to trust Me or defy Me.

The best way to befriend your problems is to thank Me for them.  This simple act opens your mind to the possibility of benefits flowing from your difficulties.  You can even give persistent problems nicknames, helping you to approach them with familiarity rather that with dread.  The next step is to introduce them to Me, enabling Me to embrace them in My loving Presence.  I will not necessarily remove your problems, but My wisdom is sufficient to bring good out of every one of them.

Romans 8:28 (AMP) 28We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

1 Corinthians 1:23-24
23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God hascalled, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

March 3 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Ever hear voices inside your mind?  Don’t worry–you’re not alone!  🙂  It is difficult to sort through the barrage of voices that compete for our attention.  Go for that “still, small, voice” that will never ask you to do anything God can’t bless.  Keep trying no matter what and God will bless you for it!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Love You For Who You Are, not for what you do.  Many voices vie for control of your mind, especially when you sit in silence.  You must learn to discern what is My voice and what is not.  Ask My Spirit to give you this discernment.  Many of My children run around in circles, trying to obey the many voices directing their lives.  This results in fragmented, frustrating patterns of living.  Do not fall into this trap.  Walk closely with Me each moment, listening for My directives and enjoying My Companionship.  Refuse to let other voices tie you up in knots.  My sheep know My voice and follow Me wherever I lead.

Ephesians 4:1-6
1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

John 10:4
4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

Durufle “Requiem”

A little sample of the Durufle “Requiem” conducted by Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony orchestra. I can totally hear our choir and orchestra performing this. Well within our reach. Would love to introduce you to some of the most gorgeous music ever written for choir and orchestra. The rich colors, the beautiful harmonies and the full range of the human voice. All for the glory of God and our departed loved ones.

March 2 Devotional

Dear Beloved,
Today’s beautiful devotional reminds us that as we live in Christ, He also lives in us and through us in this world.  It is through Christ that we are able to bless others, forgive others and yes, as pastor Mike said, offer grace to others because we have received grace.  Thanks be to God!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am The Resurrection And The Life; all lasting Life emanates from Me. People search for life in many wrong ways: chasing after fleeting pleasures, accumulating possessions and wealth, trying to deny the inevitable effects of aging. Meanwhile, I freely offer abundant Life to everyone who turns toward Me. As you come to Me and take My yoke upon you, I fill you with My very Life. This is how I choose to live in the world and accomplish My purposes. This is also how I bless you with Joy unspeakable and full of Glory. The Joy is Mine, and the Glory is Mine; but I bestow them on you as you live in My Presence, inviting Me in fully in you.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.”

Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

1 Peter 1:8-9 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

February 26th Devotional

Dear Friends,
I recently prepared a 10 year plan for our family.  The next decade will be one of tremendous change, challenges and growth for the Ferrell clan.  Graduations, college life, aging parents, empty nest, etc. etc.  Many of you have already experienced or are in the process of going through these life transitions.  It can be a bit scary, especially if you have control issues like we do!  So, I’m sure God is pleasantly amused at my silly plan for the future.  “Go ahead.  Make your plan if it makes you feel better.  I’ve got plans too and guess what?  My plans are better than yours!”  So, today’s devotional really hit home.  Hope it gives you comfort as well.   Peace and Love!  Scott

I Am Leading You, Step By Step, through your life.  Hold my hand in trusting dependence, letting Me guide you through this day.  Your future looks uncertain and feels flimsy-even precarious.  That is how it should be.  Secret things belong to the Lord, and future things are secret things.  When you try to figure out the future, you are grasping at things that are Mine. This, like all forms of worry, is an act of rebellion: doubting My promises to care for you.

Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent and return to Me.  I will show you the next step forward, and the one after that.  Relax and enjoy the journey in My Presence, trusting Me to open up the way before you as you go.

Deuteronomy 29:29  29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Psalm 32:8
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

February 25th Devotional

Dear Friends,
I love snow days!  I actually dislike cold, wet, snowy weather, but I do love the forced quiet time with family and friends.  Snow days are better than vacation days.  Vacation days can sometimes bring with it the task of preparation and the pressure of relaxing.  Snow days just “happen” and so you get to take it slow and easy with really nothing to do.  Just accept it and enjoy!  I read a book during my snow day called “Soul Keeping” by John Ortberg.  This was a slow read (if ya know what I mean) and needed to be digested in small bites.  I took notes (I always do) and would like to share a couple thoughts with you.  First, we live on a planet of lost souls spending time, money and energy fixated on “self”.  We will never be whole or happy until our soul is healthy.  Only then can the soul in integrate our mind, body and will so that harmonious living can occur in any condition or circumstance.  It’s not what you do or what you have.  It’s who you become that matters most.  John goes on to quote the late Dallas Willard: “Hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our day.  You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.”  Now, I don’t know about you, but I have some soul work to do!  With that in mind, read today’s devotional and be blessed in your unhurried time with Him.  Peace, Love and Blessings!  Scott

Rest In My Presence, allowing Me to take charge of this day. Do not bolt into the day like a race horse suddenly released. Instead, walk purposefully with Me, letting Me direct your course one step at a time. Thank Me for each blessing along the way; this brings joy to both you and Me. A grateful heart protects you from negative thinking. Thankfulness enables you to see the abundance I shower upon you daily. Your prayers and petitions are winged into heaven’s throne room when they are permeated with thanksgiving. In everything give thanks, for this is My will for you.

Colossians 4:2  2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
