April 2 Devotional

Dear Friends,
I give thanks for each of you and your faithfulness to serving during this Lenten season.  This Holy Week will be glorious indeed as you all share your gifts and talents to tell the Good News of our Messiah–his life, his ministry, his death and resurrection!  May God bless each of you now and always.  Peace and Love, Scott

I Have Promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches.  Your deepest, most constant need is for My Peace.  I have planted Peace in the garden of your heart, where I live; but there are weeds growing there too: pride, worry, selfishness, unbelief.  I am the Gardener, and I am working to rid your heart of these weeds.  I do My work in various ways.  When you sit quietly with Me, I shine the Light of My Presence directly into your heart.  In this heavenly Light, Peace grows abundantly and weeds shrivel up.  I also send trials into your life.  When you trust Me in the midst of trouble, Peace flourishes and weeds die away.  Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure.

Philippians 4:19
19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:17 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

March 31 Devotional

Dear Beloved,
Today’s devotional is packed with goodness from above.  So much so, I had to read it several times to let all the goodness soak in!  It reminded me of a question someone asked me last week.  This person doesn’t normally have a fear of flying, but due to some recent tragedies in the airlines, was beginning to have some real fear of flying.  “What do you do?” they asked.  I told them that as we’re taking off, I say a prayer for the pilot, the plane and all those on board.  I then thank God when we safely land again.  This gives me peace.  Those things that we can not control, we leave to God and find our peace in the midst of any circumstance.  Be blessed!  Love and Hugs, scott______________________________________________________________

Taste And See That I Am Good

. The more intimately you experience Me, the more convinced you become of My goodness. I am the Living One who sees you and longs to participate in your life. I am training you to find Me in each moment and to be a channel of My loving Presence. Sometimes My blessings come to you in mysterious ways: through pain and trouble.  At such times you can know My goodness only through your trust in Me. Understanding will fail you, but trust will keep you close to Me.

Thank Me for the gift of My Peace, a gift of such immense proportions that you cannot fathom its depth or breadth. When I appeared to My disciples after the resurrection, it was Peace that I communicated first of all. I knew this was their deepest need: to calm their fears and clear their minds. I also speak Peace to you, for I know your anxious thoughts. Listen to Me! Tune out other voices, so that you can hear Me more clearly. I designed you to dwell in Peace all day, every day. Draw near to Me; receive My Peace.

Psalm 34:
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Genesis 16:13 She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

John 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

March 30 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Holy Week has begun!  This is, by far, the most busy and intense week of the Christian year.  It was for Jesus and so it is for us. Yet in the midst of all the chaos, God is with us.  We are not alone.  We trust in God.  All is in Divine order according to His will.  All we can do is our best and leave to God the rest.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your faithfulness and sacrificial giving of time and talent.  You all are truly and inspiration to me and a blessing to our congregation.  God is good!  Amen!  Love and Hugs, Scott

I Am Taking Care Of You.  Trust Me at all times.  Trust Me in all circumstances.  Trust Me with all your heart.  When you are weary and everything seems to be going wrong, you can still utter these four words: “I trust You,Jesus.”  By doing so, you release matters into My control, and you fall back into the security of My everlasting arms.

Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day.  Every day provides any opportunities for you to learn My ways and grow closer to Me.  Signs of My Presence brighten even the dullest day when you have eyes that really see.  Search for Me as for hidden treasure.  I will be found by you.

Proverbs 3:5  5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Deuteronomy 33:27
27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’

Jeremiah 29:13-14
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

March 26 Devotional

Dear Friends,
No one likes to wait!  Who likes to wait in line?  Who likes to wait in traffic?  No one!  So, is it any wonder that waiting on God to give us an answer or guidance is any different?  But the Bible tells us repeatedly to “wait upon the Lord”.  God’s time in not our time.  And those that have been in a relationship with God long enough, know that many times, God works rather slowly.  Have patience, trust God and His timing and know that you are indeed top on His list!  Hugs, Scott

Waiting On Me means directing your attention to Me in hopeful anticipation of what I will do.  It entails trusting Me with every fiber of your being, instead of trying to figure things out yourself.  Waiting on Me is the way I designed you to live, all day, every day.  I created you to stay conscious of Me as you go about your daily duties.

I have promised many blessings to those who wait on Me:renewed strength, living about one’s circumstances, resurgence of hope, awareness of My continual Presence.  Waiting on Me enables you to glorify Me by living in deep dependence on Me, ready to do My will.  It also helps you to enjoy Me; in My Presence is fullness of Joy.

Lamentations 3:25-26 25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Isaiah 40:31
31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalm 16:11
11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

March 25 Devotional

Dear Friends,
I always try and have an “attitude of gratitude” each and every day.  It’s so easy to fall into the trap of complaining about circumstances and situations, many of which are out of our control.  It really is a control issue most of the time isn’t it?  If we can find something to be thankful for in every situation, then much of our complaining would cease.  Be grateful and get closer to God.  Amen!  Love, scott

Let Thankfulness Temper All Your Thoughts.  A thankful mind-set keeps you in touch with Me. I hate it when My children grumble, casually despising My sovereignty.  Thankfulness is a safe-guard against this deadly sin.   Furthermore, a grateful attitude becomes a grid through which you perceive life.  Gratitude enables you to see the Light of My Presence shining on all your circumstances. Cultivate a thankful heart, for this glorifies Me and fills you with Joy.

1 Corinthians 10:10

10And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.

Hebrews 12:28-29
28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29for our “God is a consuming fire.”

March 24 Devotional

Beloved,

Take a moment and make a fist.  Make two if you like!  Now look at your fist(s).  Do you feel the tension?  Are your nails digging into your palms?  Now, gradually relax and open your fists, leaving your palms facing upward.  Now you are ready to receive!  God can’t bless a closed hand.  The only way to receive what God wants to give you is to release that which you feel you cannot live without.  With your open hand, God can place His plans for you right in your very palm and then gently guide you, hand in hand, on the journey set before you.  Love and Hugs, Scott

This Is A Time in your life when you must learn to let go:of loved ones, or possessions, of control.  In order to let go of something that is precious to you, you need to rest in My Presence, where you are complete.  Take time to bask in the Light of My Love.  As you relax more and more, your grasping hand gradually opens up, releasing your prized possession into My care.

You can feel secure, even in the midst of cataclysmic changes, through awareness of My continual Presence.  The One who never leaves you is the same One who never changes: I am the same yesterday, today, and forever.  As you release more and more things into My care, remember that I never let go of your hand.  Herein lies your security, which no one and no circumstance can take from you.

Psalm 89:15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.

Hebrews 13:8
8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Isaiah 41:13 13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

March 23 Devotional

Dear Friends,
One of my favorite verses is John 10:10:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

So, in this verse, we know that “destruction” is not of God.  Sometimes destructive forces come from our environment.  Sometimes, sadly, we self-destruct.  But this is not the life God wants for His children.  A full, loving, peaceful and abundant life is God’s plan for you and me.  How do you get this life?  Pray, ask, receive.  God’s ready!  Are you?  Enjoy His Showers of Blessings!  Love, Scott

I Am A God of both intricate detail and overflowing abundance.  When you entrust the details of your life to Me, you are surprised by how thoroughly I answer your petitions.  I take pleasure in hearing your prayers, so feel free to bring Me all of your requests.  The more you pray, the more answers you can receive.  Best of all, your faith is strengthened as you see how precisely I respond to your specific prayers.

Because I am infinite in all My ways, you need not fear that I will run out of resources.  Abundance is at the very heart of who I AM.  Come to Me in joyful expectation of receiving all you need-and sometimes much more!  I delight in showering blessings on My beloved children.  Come to Me with open hands and heart, ready to receive all I have for you.

Psalm 132:15 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.

John 6:12-13
12When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
