January 7th Devotional

Dear Friends,
What a great rehearsal we had last night!  I know our Lord is pleased as we lift our instruments and voices in praise!  It truly is impossible to praise or thank our good and glorious God too much.  Each day is a gift, no matter what the day brings, be thankful, be grateful and praise Him for the gift of life and the joy of love that we can share with one another.  Peace and Love, Scott

It Is Impossible To Praise Or Thank Me Too Much.  As it is written, I inhabit the praises of My people.  Sometimes your adoration is a spontaneous overflow of Joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings.  At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured-an act of your will.  I dwell equally in both types of praise.  Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw near Me.  A thankful heart has plenty of room for Me.

When you thank Me for the many pleasures I provide, you affirm that I am God, from whom all blessings flow.  When adversity strikes and you thank Me anyway, your trust in My sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms.  Fill up the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving.  This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of My Presence.

Psalm 22:3 (KJV)  3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Psalm 146:1-2 
1 Praise the LORD.  Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

January 6 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Ever feel as if you’re limping instead of flying during your day?  That’s kind of how it’s been for me lately.  I’m kind of limping into 2016 it seems.  And then I read today’s devotional and am reminded that, indeed, my strength is small, but my God is GREAT!  So, I’ll lean on Him and trust in Him in all things.  I look forward to our first rehearsal of the new year tonight!  Come ready to have a great time of merry music making and fellowship!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am Able to do far beyond all that you ask or imagine.  Come to Me with positive expectations, knowing that there is no limit to what I can accomplish.  Ask My Spirit to control your mind, so that you can think great thoughts of Me.  Do not be discouraged by the fact that many of your prayers are yet unanswered.  Time is a trainer, teaching you to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark.  The more extreme your circumstances, the more likely you are to see My Power and Glory at work in the situation.  Instead of letting difficulties draw you into worrying, try to view them as setting the scene for My glorious intervention.  Keep your eyes and your mind wide open to all that I am doing in your life.

Ephesians 3:20-21 20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

January 4th Devotional

I Want You To Learn A New Habit.  Try saying “I trust You, Jesus” in response to whatever happens to you.  If there is time, think about who I Am in all My Power and Glory; ponder also the depth and breadth of My Love for you.

This simple practice will help you to see Me in every situation, acknowledging My sovereign control over the universe.  When you view events from this perspective-through the Light of My universal Presence-fear loses its grip on you.  Adverse circumstances become growth opportunities when you affirm your trust in Me no matter what.  You receive blessings gratefully, realizing they flow directly from My hand of grace.  Your continual assertion of trusting Me will strengthen our relationship and keep you close to Me.

Psalm 63:2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

Isaiah 40:10-11 10 See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. 11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

December 29th Devotional

Dear Friends,
I have not posted a devotional in a while, but this one is really too good not to forward to you all.  I trust that you are getting some rest after a busy Christmas season.  I can’t thank you all enough for your wonderful music each and every weekend!  What a blessing you are to me and to our church.  As we wind down 2015 and look towards another year, it’s important to remember that no matter what, we can trust God to be with us through thick and thin. May you all be blessed today and every day as you continue to walk in His ways.  Peace and love, Scott

Trust Me with every fiber of your being!  What I can accomplish in and through you is proportional to how much you depend on Me.  One aspect of this is the degree to which you trust Me in a crisis or major decision.  Some people fail miserably here, while others are at their best in tough times.  Another aspect is even more telling: the constancy of your trust in Me.  People who rely on Me in the midst of adversity may forget about Me when life is flowing smoothly.  Difficult times can jolt you into awareness of your need for Me, whereas smooth sailing can lull you into the stupor of self-sufficiency.

I care as much about your tiny trust-steps through daily life as about your dramatic leaps of faith.  You may think that no one notices, but the One who is always beside you sees everything-and rejoices.  Consistently trusting in Me is vital to flourishing in My Presence.

Psalm 40:4 4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

Psalm 56:3-4 3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.  4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me?

Psalm 62:8  
8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Isaiah 26:3-4
 3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.  4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

Worship Opportunity March 5-6th

Dear Worship Leaders,

My brother Ray Jones down in San Antonio at Community Bible Church needs our help in putting together a “super choir” of more than a thousand.  This is for a crusade type event called Harvest America.  I’ve cleared it with the pastors about our participation and support of this coast to coast event happening right here in Arlington!  We’ll be performing with MercyMe, Chris Tomlin, Switchfoot and Lecrae.  Here’s the info in a nutshell.  More will be fleshed out in January.

Saturday  March 5  4-6  Rehearsal at the stadium

Sunday    March 6th      Worship at 5:30 until 7:30

Everyone age 8 and up is invited to sing!
PDF and MP3s will be sent from the Harvest website to you directly.
