July 11 Devotional

Dear Friends,

It is indeed easy to find our attention drawn to other “idols” that would charm us.  Today, it seems, self-worship is the god of choice.  Keep your focus outward and upward.  All will fall into place.  Peace and Love! Scott

Worship Me Only.  Idolatry has always been the downfall of My people.  I make nosecrets about being a jealous God.  Current idols are more subtle than ancient ones, because today’s false gods are often outside the field of religion.  People, possessions, status, and self-aggrandizement are some of the most popular deities today.  Beware of bowing down before these things.  False gods never satisfy; instead, they stir up lust for more and more.
When you seek Me instead of the world’s idols, you experience My Joy and Peace.  These intangibles slake the thirst of your soul, providing deep satisfaction.  The glitter of the world is tinny and temporal.  The Light of My Presence is brilliant and everlasting.  Walk in the Light with Me.  Thus you become a beacon through whom others are drawn to Me.

Exodus 20:4-5 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

2 Samuel 22:29 29 You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.

I call you all “friends”…..

____________________________________________________

Relax In My Peaceful Presence.  Do not bring performance pressures into our sacred space of communion.  When you are with someone you trust completely, you feel free to be yourself.  This is one of the joys of true friendship.  Though I am Lord of lords and King of kings, I also desire to be your intimate Friend.  When you are tense or pretentious in our relationship, I feel hurt.  I know the worst about you, but I also see the best in you.  I long for you to trust Me enough to be fully yourself with Me.  When you are real with Me, I am able to bring out the best in you: the very gifts that I have planted in your soul.  Relax, and enjoy our friendship.

Revelation 17:14 14They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

John 15:13-15 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command. 15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Dear Friends,

I love this devotional!  I pray that it blesses you as it has blessed me today.  Miss you all!  See you Sunday, if not sooner.  Hugs and Love, Scott

Stop Worrying

long enough to hear My voice.  I speak softly to you, in the depths of your being.  Your mind shuttles back and forth, hither and yon, weaving webs of anxious confusion.  As My thoughts rise up within you, they become entangled in those sticky webs of worry.  Thus, My voice is muffled, and you hear only “white noise.”

Ask My Spirit to quiet your mind so that you can think My thoughts.  This ability is an awesome benefit of being My child, patterned after My own image.  Do not be deafened by the noise of the world or that of your own thinking.  Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Sit quietly in My Presence, letting My thoughts reprogram your thinking.

Deuteronomy 30:20 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Genesis 1:27  27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Romans 12:2 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I Will Follow Him on Sunday

Just wanted to remind you ladies that we will be singing “I Will Follow Him” this Sunday at both the 8:15 and 11 o’clock services.

We will meet in the Sanctuary at 7:30am for a sound check. After that, we will come back to the choir room, get robes on, go over the choreography, and get everyone lined up.

See you Sunday morning bright and early!

Beloved.  Pure joy and security awaits.  Grasp it with your whole being!  Peace and Love, Scott

Draw Near To Me with a thankful heart, aware that your cup is overflowing with blessings.  Gratitude enables you to perceive Me more clearly and to rejoice in our love-relationship.  Nothing can separate you from My loving Presence!  That is the basis of your security.  Whenever you start to feel anxious, remind yourself that your security rests in Me alone, and I am totally trustworthy.

You will never be in control of your circumstances, but you can relax and trust in My control.  Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know Me in greater depth and breadth.  I long to make your life a glorious adventure, but you must stop clinging to old ways.  I am always doing something new within My beloved ones.  Be on the lookout for all that I have prepared for you.

Romans 8:38-39 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 56:3 3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

Isaiah 43:19  19 See, I am doing a new thing!   Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Dear Friends,

Thank you all so much for your faithfulness yesterday as we ushered in the Holy Spirit through song.  I hope you heard, felt or saw the voice of God at work in yourselves and in others.  The Spirit was indeed thick in our sanctuary!  I give thanks for each and every one of you.  Enjoy your break and let the Lord lead you to quiet, still waters for renewal.  Peace and Love, Scott

Let Me Show You

My way for you this day.  I guide you continually, so you can relax and enjoy My Presence in the present.  Living well is both a discipline and an art.  Concentrate on staying close to Me, the divine Artist.  Discipline your thoughts to trust Me as I work My ways in your life.  Pray about everything; then, leave outcomes up to Me.  Do not fear My will, for through it I accomplish what is best for you.  Take a deep breath and dive into the depths of absolute trust in Me.  Underneath are the everlasting arms!

Psalm 5:2-3  2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.  3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Deuteronomy 33:27  27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’

July 28 Devotional

Oh taste and see!  It was wonderful having some down time with you all yesterday.  Thanks to all who brought the yummy sides and desserts.  Thanks again to our awesome staff who spent many hours setting up and preparing the Latham compound for fun and fellowship.  Thanks to Judy and Pat Latham for their wonderful hospitality.  Thanks to the event and hospitality crew for keeping us hydrated.  And, lastly, thanks to my wonderful wife who did so much behind the scenes prior to the party and after the party and during the party.  You rock Cheryl Ferrell!

I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday when we’ll take communion together and state the obvious in song—God is Here!

Peace and Love Friends, Scott

Taste And See That I Am Good.  This command contains an invitation to experience My living Presence.  It also contains a promise.  The more you experience Me, the more convinced you become of My goodness.  This knowledge is essential to your faith-walk.  When adversities strike, the human instinct is to doubt My goodness.  My ways are mysterious, even to those who know Me intimately.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways and thoughts higher than your ways and thoughts.  Do not try to fathom My ways.  Instead, spend time enjoying Me and experiencing My goodness.

Psalm 34:88 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.  9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

June 27th Devotional

Dear Friends,

I pray that you’ll join me this evening in “resting” for a while and fellowshipping as well.  God is always waiting. Patiently waiting.  Be blessed in your time with Him today.  Peace and Love, Scott

Rest With Me A While.  You have journeyed up a steep, rugged path in recent days.  The way ahead is shrouded in uncertainty.  Look neither behind you nor before you.  Instead, focus your attention on Me, your constant Companion.  Trust that I will equip you fully for whatever awaits you on your journey.

I designed time to be a protection for you.  You couldn’t bear to see all your life at once.  Though I am unlimited by time, it is in the present moment that I meet you.  Refresh yourself in My company, breathing deep draughts of My Presence.  The highest level of trust is to enjoy Me moment by moment.  I am with you, watching over you wherever you go.

Psalm 143:8 8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go,  for to you I lift up my soul.

Genesis 28:15 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

June 26 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I love the thought that God goes before us and that nothing takes Him by surprise.  So, whatever your challenge is today, know that God has it all under control.  Trust. Believe. Live. Love. Scott

________________________________________________________

Stay Calmly conscious of Me today, no matter what.  Remember that I go before you as well as with you into the day.  Nothing takes Me by surprise.  I will not allow circumstances to overwhelm you, so long as you look to Me.  I will help you cope with whatever the moment presents.  Collaborating with Me brings blessings that far outweigh all your troubles.  Awareness of My Presence contains Joy that can endure all eventualities.

Jude 24-25 24To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
