Quick Reminder

We do not have rehearsals tonight, but choir and orchestra will sing/play on Sunday morning. We are doing an oldie, but a goodie “Joyful, Joyful” arr. Bovee. We will be back to our regular schedule next Wednesday evening!

Here is a recording…just in case you need a refresher before Sunday!

January 2 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I pray this devotional finds you well as we begin a new year.  If you’re like me, I have many things on my “to do” list that keep calling out to me.  But, as you read below, you’ll see that spending time with God is our number one priority!  Today, I put aside my list to attend a Bible study here at church.  I must admit, I struggled with the choice as my list is very long and the items are very important, but so is setting aside time with God.  Choose the better one today and God will help you with that list afterwards.  You might even find you’re MORE productive once your priorities are in order.  I’ll see you all on Sunday for worship!  Be blessed loved ones, Scott

Relax In My Healing Presence.  As you spend time with Me, your thoughts tend to jump ahead to today’s plans and problems.  Bring your mind back to Me for refreshment and renewal.  Let the Light of My Presence soak into you, focus your thoughts on Me.  Thus I equip you to face whatever the day brings.  This sacrifice of time pleases Me and strengthens you.  Do not skimp on our time together.  Resist the clamor of tasks waiting to be done.  You have chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from you.

Psalm 105:4 4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Luke 10:39:42 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”  41″Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

December 19 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I so look forward to seeing you all tonight for our rehearsal and Christmas party!  Hopefully, this is not a chore, but a delight to be with other believers as we celebrate a job well done.  Music ministry at its best!  Peace, Scott

Do Not Be Weighed Down by the clutter in your life:lots of little chores to do sometime, in no particular order. If you focus too much on these petty tasks, trying to get them all out of the way, you will discover that they are endless. They can eat up as much time as you devote to them.

Instead of trying to do all your chores at once, choose the ones that need to be done today. Let the rest slip into the background of your mind, so that I can be in the forefront of your awareness. Remember that your ultimate goal is living close to Me, being responsive to My initiatives. I can communicate with you most readily when your mind is uncluttered and turned toward Me. Seek My Face continually throughout this day. Let My Presence bring order to your thoughts, infusing Peace into your entire being.

Proverbs 16:3
3Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Matthew 6:33 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

December 18 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I know we all have troubles and problems in this life.  The Bible offers some words of wisdom on this subject.  Obviously, our Creator God knows our human nature and anticipated the difficulties we would have to endure.  He modeled how we should deal with the issues that befall each of us.  We see it in His son Jesus.  How to be born, how to live and how to die.  Read below for inspiration and be blessed today!  In Him, for Him and in Love, Scott

When You Are Plagued by a persistent problem-one that goes on and on-view it as a rich opportunity.  An ongoing problem is like a tutor who is always by your side.  The learning possibilities are limited only by your willingness to be teachable.  In faith, thank Me for your problem.  Ask Me to open your eyes and your heart to all that I am accomplishing through this difficulty.  Once you have become grateful for a problem, it loses its power to drag you down.  On the contrary, your thankful attitude will lift you up into heavenly places with Me.  From this perspective, your difficulty can be seen as a slight, temporary distress that is producing for you a transcendent Glory never to cease!

Isaiah 30:20-21
20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

2 Corinthians 4:17 (AMP) 17For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

December 5 Devotional

Dearly Beloved Friends,

Indeed, God is all around us, but quite often, we’re too busy to experience it.  In this sacred time of year, be especially tuned into the presence of God at work around you and exclaim “Surely, the Lord is in this place!”  Be blessed as you bless others.  Peace and Grace, Scott

Let My Presence override everything you experience.  Like a luminous veil of Light.  I hover over you and everything around you.  I am training you to stay conscious of Me in each situation you encounter.

When the patriarch Jacob ran away from his enraged brother, he went to sleep on a stone pillow in a land that seemed desolate.  But after dreaming about heaven and angels and promises of My Presence, he awoke and exclaimed: “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”  His discovery was not only for him but for all who seek Me.  Whenever you feel distant from me, say: “Surely the Lord is in this place!”  Then, ask Me to give you awareness of My Presence.  This is a prayer that I delight to answer.

Psalm 31:20
20In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.

Genesis 28:11-1611 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13There above it stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”

December 4th Devotional

Dear Friends,

It’s been a while since I’ve sent you a devotional.  Sorry ’bout that!  Today’s devotional is terrific one that merits a minute of your time.  I find during my prayer time that it’s difficult to stop talking and just listen.  My mind continues to race from topic to topic, from concern to concern etc. Quieting our minds to hear God’s voice is a discipline I continue to struggle with daily.  I pray you find the time today to confess, to pray and to listen to God’s voice.  He loves you more than you know.  Peace and Love, Scott

My Thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are your ways My ways.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways and thoughts higher than yours.  Remember who I Am when you spend time with Me.  Marvel at the wonder of being able to commune with the King of the universe-any time, any place.  Never take this amazing privilege for granted!

Though I am vastly higher and greater than you, I am training you to think My thoughts.  As you spend time in My Presence, My thoughts gradually form in your mind.  My Spirit is the Director of this process.  Sometimes He brings Bible verses to mind.  Sometimes He enables you to hear Me “speak” directly to you.  These communications strengthen you and prepare you for whatever is before you on your life path.  Take time to listen to My voice.  Through your sacrifice of precious time, I bless you far more than you dare to ask.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Colossians 4:2 2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Psalm 116:17 17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.
