January 16 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I love the words of comfort and assurance written below.  Isn’t it wonderful that we have such a loving and caring God who transcends time and space to give us these words of encouragement.  Our Savior is not a “fix it and forget it” God. Salvation is the beginning of an ongoing relationship where we begin to realize out deeply we are loved, cherished and cared for.  Indeed, His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  Go through this day knowing He’s right beside you every step of the way.  Peace and Love, Scott

Come To Me, and rest in My loving Presence.  You know that this day will bring difficulties, and you are trying to think your way through those trials.  As you anticipate what is ahead of you, you forget that I am with you-now and always.  Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times, whereas you are meant to go through them only when they actually occur.  Do not multiply your suffering in this way!  Instead, come to Me, and relax in My Peace.  I will strengthen you and prepare you for this day, transforming your fear into confident trust.

Matthew 11:28-30
28″Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Joshua 1:5 5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Joshua 1:99 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

January 15 Devotional

Dear Friends,

As the winds of our problems, both real and imagined blow at you, remember who calms the seas with just a word, who healed the sick with just a touch and who loves you more than you know.  Trust and do not fear.  Be blessed today!  Hugs and Love, Scott

My Face Is Shining Upon You, beaming out Peace that transcends understanding. You are surrounded by a sea of problems, but you are face -to-Face with Me, your Peace. As long as you focus on Me, you are safe. If you gaze too long at the myriad problems around you, you will sink under the weight of your burdens. When you start to sink, simply call out “Help me,Jesus!’ and I will lift you up.

The closer you live to Me, the safer you are. Circumstances around you are undulating, and there are treacherous-looking waves in the distance. Fix your eyes on Me, the One who never changes. By the time those waves reach you , they will have shrunk to proportions of My design. I am always beside you, helping you face today’s waves. The future is a phantom, seeking to spook you. Laugh at the future! Stay close to Me.

Philippians 4:77And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 14:3030But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cries out, “Lord, save me!”

Hebrews 12:2 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Dear Friends,

It is good to know that we are never alone on this journey we call “life”.  Sometimes we may think that we have control over each day, but in reality, God is in control and that’s a good thing!  So, trust, be grateful, relax a bit and hold on tight to the One who created Heaven and Earth.  And, embrace the surprise when it comes your way.  Be blessed!  Peace and Love, Scott

Try To View Each Day as an adventure, carefully planned out by your Guide. Instead of staring into the day that is ahead of you, attempting to program it according to your will, be attentive to Me and to all that I have prepared for you. Thank Me for this day of life, recognizing that it is a precious, unrepeatable gift. Trust that I am with you each moment, whether you sense My Presence or not. A thankful, trusting attitude helps you to see events in your life from My perspective.

A life lived close to Me will never be dull or predictable. Expect each day to contain surprises! Resist your tendency to search for the easiest route through the day. Be willing to follow wherever I lead. No matter how steep or treacherous the path before you, the safest place to be is by My side.

Psalm 118:24 24This is the day the Lord has made;let us rejoice and be glad in it.

1 Peter 2:21 21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Dear Friends,

Bob and Janie Bush are leading a class that’s being offered to our staff called Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace.  This class has been offered before and will be offered to all of our congregation coming in the fall of this year.  Right now, we’re just in the “savings” mode and haven’t talked much about compounding interest.  I do know that you always want to be on the earning side of interest, not on the giving side.  When we invest in our relationship with God, the return is HUGE!  This is also our most important relationship and needs attention daily.  How do we invest?  Pray.  Give.  Sacrifice.  Trust.  Love.  All of these treasured coins you invest will come in handy when the storms of life come around.  Read on for inspiration and be blessed!  Love, Scott

Every Time You Affirm Your Trust In Me, you put a coin into My treasury.  Thus you build up equity in preparation for days of trouble.  I keep safely in My heart all trust invested in Me, with interest compounded continuously.  The more you trust Me, the more I enable you to do so.

Practice trusting Me during quiet days, when nothing much seems to be happening.  Then when storms come, your trust balance will be sufficient to see you through.
Store up for yourself treasure in heaven, through placing your trust in Me.  This practice will keep you in My Peace.

Psalm 56:3-4
3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.  4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?

Matthew 6:20-21 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Dear Beloved, Faithful Servants,

I don’t know about you, but I stopped doing new year’s resolutions a long time ago.  Don’t get me wrong, I know there are things that I need to change and improve upon, but term “resolution” sounds so serious and daunting.  Being “resolute” may be the only way to actually make change happen, but the Bible says that if you are in God’s will, then nothing can stop you from eventually accomplishing your goal.  I love goals and set them for myself and others every day.  It is said if you aim at nothing, you are sure to hit your mark!  So, pray about your goals, ask God to guide you and for His will to be your will and then be patient and never quit!  Soak up what God has in store for you and enjoy the journey with Him hand in hand.  Read below and be blessed!  Hugs and Love, Scott
p.s. I was getting inundated with spam through the blog, so Beth disabled the response option.  If you have a comment, liked or disliked what I wrote, or want to dialog more, just send me an email.  scottf@fmcm.org   Peace, me

I Am With You And For You.  When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you.  You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don’t be discouraged-never give up!  With my help, you can overcome any obstacle.  Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent.
Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things happen before their times have come.  One of the main ways I assert My sovereignty is in the timing of events.  If you want to stay close to Me and do things My way, ask Me to show you the path forward moment by moment.  Instead of dashing headlong toward your goal, let Me set the pace.  Slow down, and enjoy the journey in My Presence.

Romans 8:31
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Psalm 46:1-3  1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,  3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah

Luke 1:37 For nothing is impossible with God.

January 8 Devotional

Dear Friends,

The beautiful words below encourage me to continue to press on, knowing I’m not alone.  We are indeed a people of hope.  Hope is a powerful attitude that can enable us to make it through any storm that comes our way.  Christ is our hope, our redeemer, our Savior.  Cling to Him at all times and you’ll see things differently.  Go lightly through this day and hold on tight to hope!  Peace and Love, Scott

Softly I Announce My Presence. Shimmering hues of radiance tap gently at your consciousness, seeking entrance. Though I have all power in heaven and on earth, I am infinitely tender with you. The weaker you are, the more gently I approach you. Let your weakness be a door to My Presence. Whenever you feel inadequate remember that I am your ever-present Help.

Hope in Me, and you will be protected from depression and self-pity. Hope is like a golden cord connecting you to heaven. The more you cling to this cord, the more I hear the weight of your burdens; thus, you are lightened. Heaviness is not of My kingdom. Cling to hope, and My rays of Light will reach you through the darkness.

Psalm 46:1
1God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Romans 12:12 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 15:13
13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

January 7 devotional

Dear Friends,

Praise and Thanksgiving in ALL circumstances keeps us in a positive relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Of course, this can be difficult to do at times.  I guess it all depends on what you focus on.  Not long ago, the alternator belt broke on my wife’s car.  She was about a hundred yards away from the house.  Praise God!  She made it into the driveway and no damage was done.  No one likes car trouble, but we could praise God for her being so close to home.  Little things like that help us train our minds and attitudes so that when the big things come (and they will), we’ll be better able to praise Him and thank Him no matter what.  Be blessed loved ones!  Scott
____________________________________________________________________
It Is Impossible To Praise Or Thank Me Too Much.  As it is written, I inhabit the praises of My people.  Sometimes your adoration is a spontaneous overflow of Joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings.  At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured-an act of your will.  I dwell equally in both types of praise.  Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw near Me.  A thankful heart has plenty of room for Me.
When you thank Me for the many pleasures I provide, you affirm that I am God, from whom all blessings flow.  When adversity strikes and you thank Me anyway, your trust in My sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms.  Fill up the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving.  This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of My Presence.

Psalm 22:3 (KJV)
3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Psalm 146:1-2 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
