September 12 Devotional

Dear Friends,

Finding quiet time is difficult in our chaotic world.  Quiet time doesn’t often happen by itself.  You have to make quiet time by creating an atmosphere of peace and solitude.  Sometimes, one has to get creative in order to do this.  With little ones running around, I found the bathroom was the only place I could get “alone time”, and even then, it was often compromised!  But, the act of simply making some quiet time with God is time well spent.  It’s worth the effort and has a direct impact on your sense of peace and well-being, as well as striking a blow against evil here and in heaven.  Talk about a “win/win”!  Be blessed dear ones.  See you Sunday!  Peace, Scott

Receive My Peace.  It is My continual gift to you.  The best way to receive this gift is to sit quietly in My Presence, trusting Me in every area of your life.  Quietness and trust accomplish far more than you can imagine: not only in you, but also on earth and in heaven.  When you trust Me in a given area, you release that problem or person into My care.

Spending time alone with Me can be a difficult discipline, because it goes against the activity addiction of this age.  You may appear to be doing nothing, but actually you are participating in battles going on within spiritual realms.  You are waging war-not with the weapons of the world, but with heavenly weapons, which have divine power to demolish strongholds.  Living close to Me is a sure defense against evil.

John 14:27  27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Isaiah 30:15  15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

September 11 Devotional

Dear Beloved Worship Leaders,
So many emotions are filling my being today. Of course, today is 9/11, twelve years after our country, our religion and our freedom was attacked.  What we celebrate today as we remember, is the amazing stories of courage and resolve of our fellow Americans. We celebrate the spirit of our nation and it’s ability to rise above the circumstances of our existence and the ashes of acts of hate.  Evil will always roam our planet, but we are called to have peace, hope and joy in the midst of any storms that come our way.  And remember, nothing is impossible with God!  Be blessed friends.  I’ll see you tonight!

Rejoice In Me Always!  No matter what is going on, you can rejoice in your Love-relationship with Me.  This is the secret ofbeing content in all circumstances.  So many people dream of the day when they will finally be happy: when they are out of debt, when their children are out of trouble, when they have more leisure time, and so on.  While they daydream, their moments are trickling into the ground like precious balm spilling wastefully from overturned bottles.

Fantasizing about future happiness will never bring fulfillment, because fantasy is unreality.  Even though I am invisible, I am far more Real than the world you see around you.  My reality is eternal and unchanging.  Bring your moments to Me, and I will fill them with vibrant Joy.  Now is the time to rejoice in My Presence!

Philippians 4:4  4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

September 10 Devotional

Dear Friends,

In this crazy, changing world where nothing ever remains the same, it’s good to know that one thing will never change–God’s love for us and His unfailing presence that gives us hope and peace.  One day, we will all live in eternity with this truth.  But for now, we have to trust it to be so here on Earth, as in Heaven.  We are not alone, no matter what you may be feeling or where you may be going, God is with you and loving you each step of the way.  Take peace and comfort in this my friends.  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am Always Available To You.  Once you have trusted Me as your Savior, I never distance Myself from you.  Sometimes you may feel distant from Me.  Recognize that as feeling; do not confuse it with reality.  The bible is full of My promises to be with you always.  As I assured Jacob, when he was journeying away from home into unknown places, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.  My last recorded promise to My followers was: Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Let these assurances of My continual Presence fill you with Joy and Peace.  No Matter what you may lose in this life, you can never lose your relationship with Me.

September 9 Devotional

Dear Friends,

It was great sharing a meal with you all on Sunday as we officially kicked off our Fall season.  It was a wonderful Sunday all together–great sermon, great music, great food and great fellowship.  I hope you feel as if you’re on the right path for a spiritual fall season of music making and leading in worship.  Whenever someone gets out of the habit of coming on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings, they always say how much they missed it when they do return. I  believe God honors our efforts and faithfulness to service.  He knows that it makes us feel good to serve and to use our gifts for Him.  So, if you’ve wandered off the right path, fear not!  Simply begin again.  God will help you prioritize so that you can stay on the right path.  A path of joy in serving God.  Be blessed and thanks for walking along with me and your other brothers and sisters in Christ!  Peace and Love, Scott

Walk With Me Along Paths Of Trust.  The most direct route between point A and point B on our life-journey is the path of unwavering trust in Me.  When your faith falters, you choose a trial that meanders and takes you well out of your way.  You will get to point B eventually, but you will have lost precious time and energy.  As soon as you realize you have wandered from you trust-path, look to Me and whisper, “I trust You,Jesus.”  This affirmation will help you get back on track.

The farther you roam along paths of unbelief, the harder it is to remember that I am with you.  Anxious thoughts branch off in all directions, taking you farther and farther from awareness of My Presence.  You need to voice your trust in Me frequently.  This simple act of faith will keep you walking along straight paths with Me.  Trust in Me with all your heart, and I will make your paths straight.

4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

September 5 Devotional

Dear Friends,

This beautiful devotional warms my heart and gives me hope for my future.  I love the image of Christ as both “friend” and “savior”.  Many miss the relationship duality of our Lord and King.  It seems almost impossible that the creator of the universe could also be our friend.  But nothing is impossible with God!  (as the song says!)  And, on a more personal note, I am honored to call each of you “friend”.  I love sharing ministry with you each week.  Thank you for your faithfulness and servant hearts.  You bless me and so many others.  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am Your Best Friend, as well as your King.  Walk hand in hand with Me through your life.  Together we will face whatever each day brings: pleasures, hardships, adventures, disappointments.  Nothing is wasted when it is shared with Me.  I can bring beauty out of the ashes of lost dreams.  I can glean Joy out of sorrow, Peace out of adversity.  Only a Friend who is also the King of kings could accomplish this divine alchemy.  There is no other like Me!

The friendship I offer you is practical and down-to-earth, yet it is saturated with heavenly glory.  Living in My Presence means living in two realms simultaneously: the visible world and unseen eternal reality.  I have equipped you to stay conscious of Me while walking along dusty, earthbound paths.

September 4 Devotional

Dear Friends,

Those great hymns of our faith come to mind when I read the devotional below.  What hymns come to your mind?  For me, I immediately started to sing “In the Garden” with that wonderfully lilting chorus: “And He walks with me and He talks with me. And He tells me I am His own.  And the joy we share as we tarry there.  None other has ever known.”  Be blessed as you commune with Him today!  Peace and Love, Scott

In Closeness To Me, you are safe.  In the intimacy of My Presence, you are energized.  No matter where you are in the world, you know you belong when you sense My nearness.  Ever since the Fall, man has experienced a gaping emptiness that only My Presence can fill.  I designed you for close communication with your Creator.  How I enjoyed walking in the garden with Adam and Eve, before the evil one deceived them!

When you commune with Me in the garden of your heart, both you and I are blessed.  This is My way of living in the world-through you!  Together we will push back the darkness, for I am the Light of the world.

September 3rd Devotional

Dear Friends,

Well, today it started for me.  The massive, musical machine is starting its engine and we’re beginning to roll.  I knew it was coming.  Labor day marked the official end of summer for me and now, “it” has begun.  I’m not sure where the summer went.  I have a few pictures of places and things that I did.  It’s all a blur now, so I’m glad I took some pictures to prove that I did indeed have a summer break!  But I have to pace myself.  I’m a giver, just like most of you.  We love doing and going.  It is ministry in so many ways.  Mary and Martha were in ministry with Jesus when he gently chastised Martha for being to worried and upset about all that needed to be done.  I can visualize her busily cleaning and cooking and taking care of everyone else’s needs but her own.  Martha is a giver  too.  But maybe on this particular day, she was out of balance.  Maybe, just maybe, the “work” needed to take a back seat so that Jesus could have the front seat.  Maybe He had something important to tell her.  Mary got it.  Martha didn’t.  So, take a moment each day to give Jesus the front seat in your busy lives before you take off with the rest of your day.  You’ll be glad you did!  Peace and Love, Scott

Let The Dew Of My Presence

 

refresh your mind and heart.  So many, many things vie for your attention in this complex world of instant communication. The world has changed enormously since I first gave the command to be still and know that I am God.  However, this timeless truth is essential for the well-being of your soul.  As dew refreshes grass and flowers during the stillness of the night, so My Presence revitalizes  you as you sit quietly with Me.

A refreshed, revitalized mind is able to sort out what is important and what is not.  In its natural condition, your mind easily gets stuck on trivial matters.  Like the spinning wheels of a car trapped in the mud, the “cogs” of your brain spin impotently when you focus on a trivial thing.  As soon as you start communicating with Me about the matter, your thoughts gain traction and you can move on to more important things.  Communicate with Me continually, and I will put My thoughts into your mind.

Psalm 46:10  10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Luke 10:39-42 
39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”41″Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
