September 25 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I pray God blesses you today and every day as you seek Him face to face.  He’s always there for us and always will be there.  What an awesome God!  What a privilege to carry everything to Him in prayer.  Peace!  Scott

I Am The Eternal I Am; I always have been, and I always will be.  In My Presence you experience Love and Light, Peace and Joy.  I am intimately involved in all your moments, and I am training you to be aware of Me at all times.  Your assignment is to collaborate with Me in this training process.

I have taken up residence within you; I am central in your innermost being.  Your mind goes off in tangents from its holy Center, time after time.  Do not be alarmed by your inability to remain focused on Me.  Simply bring your thoughts gently back to Me each time they wander.  The quickest way to redirect your mind to me is to whisper My Name.

1 Corinthians 3:16 16Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

Psalm 25:14-15

14 The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. 15 My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

Dear Friends,
I love this time of year when we begin to say “goodbye” to our intense Texas summer and “hello” Fall!  It’s amazing to see what a little relief from the heat can do to everyone’s general disposition.  There’s a little more pep in everyone’s step and a lightness in the air.  Spiritually, this is how Christ wants us to walk with Him.  He wanted us to not be burned with the guilt of sin and the fear of death.  He wanted this so badly for us, that He gave his very life for us to have the privilege of walking in the light of His love and grace.  So, when you feel tempted to have a “pity party” or to beat yourself up over something you did or said, ask for forgiveness, repent and then stand up tall as a forgiven soldier of Christ.  Be blessed friends.  Love and Hugs, Scott

Walk With Me in the freedom of forgiveness.  The path we follow together is sometimes steep and slippery.  If you carry a burden of guilt on your back, you are more likely to stumble and fall.  At your request, I will remove the heavy load from you and bury it at the foot of the cross.  When I unburden you, you are undeniably free!  Stand up  straight and tall in My Presence, so that no one  can place more burdens on your back.  Look into My Face and feel the warmth of My Love-Light shining upon you.  It is this unconditional Love that frees you from both fears and sins.  Spend time basking in the Light of My Presence.  As you come to know Me more and more intimately, you grow increasingly free.

Psalm 69:19  19 You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you.

1 John 1:7-9
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 4:18 18There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Dear Friends,
The Bible often refers to our battles here on earth and in heaven.  You did know you were in the midst of a battle didn’t you?  It’s easy to forget and to become numb to this supernatural fact.  We are at war!  But, we do have our supreme captain, Jesus Christ, who loves us and sustains us.  If we could just remember to follow Him!  The best defense against the powers of this world are staying close to Christ and in communion with Him.  Easy to say, yet difficult to do.  Be blessed as you fight the good fight my friends.  See you Sunday!  Love, Scott

There Is A Mighty Battle
going on for control of your mind.  Heaven and earth intersect in your mind; the tugs of both spheres influence your thinking.  I created you with the capacity to experience foretastes of heaven.  When you shut out the world and focus on My Presence, you can enjoy sitting with Me in heavenly realms.  This is an incredible privilege reserved for precious ones who belong to Me and seek My Face.  Your greatest strength is your desire to spend time communing with Me.  As you concentrate on Me, My Spirit fills your mind with Life and Peace.

The world exerts a downward pull on your thoughts. Media bombard you with greed, lust, and cynicism.  When you face these things, pray for protection and discernment.  Stay in continual communication with Me whenever you walk through the wastelands of this world.  Refuse to worry, because this form of worldliness will weigh you down and block awareness of My Presence.  Stay alert, recognizing the battle being waged against your mind.  Look forward to the eternity of strife-free living, reserved for you in heaven.

Ephesians 2:6 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Psalm 27:8 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his  face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

 Romans 8:6 6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;

1 John 2:15-17 15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Dear Beloved,

As we go about our daily living and jobs, it’s good to know that it is God whom we ultimately serve.  What a great boss!  He’s forgiving, kind, loving and wants us to be successful in whatever we put our hearts and souls into, as long as we remain in His will and not our own.  Be careful of your focal point and the choices you make.  As pastor Mike always says “don’t do anything God can’t bless”.  Good words to work and live by.  Peace and Love, Scott

Seek To Please Me above all else.  Let that goal be your focal point as you go through this day.  Such a mind-set will protect you from scattering your energy to the winds.  The free will I bestowed on you comes with awesome responsibility. Each day presents you with choice after choice.  Many of these decisions you ignore and thus make by default. Without a focal point to guide you, you can easily lose your way.  That’s why it is so important to stay in communication with Me, living in thankful awareness of My Presence.  You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges.  Only a vibrant relationship with Me can keep you from coming unraveled too.

Matthew 6:33 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

John 8:29
29The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”

Colossians 3:23-24
23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Dear Friends,

I pray God’s eternal blessings upon you today and everyday as you seek His will in your lives.  As a “planner”, I know full well the urge to map out everything before the journey begins.  We find peace in knowing what’s going to happen and when.  Except, things don’t always turn out like we planned.  Read on for wisdom!  Peace, Scott

You Will Not Find My Peace by engaging in excessive planning: attempting to control what will happen to you in the future.  That is a commonly practiced form of unbelief.  When your mind spins with multiple plans, Peace may sometimes seem to be within your grasp; yet it always eludes you.  Just when you think you have prepared for all possibilities, something unexpected pops up and throws things into confusion.

I did not design the human mind to figure out the future.  That is beyond your capability.  I crafted your mind for continual communication with Me.  Bring Me all your needs, your hopes and fears.  Commit everything into My care.  Turn from the path of planning to the path of Peace.

1 Peter 5:6-7 6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Proverbs 16:9
9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

Psalm 37:5
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:

Dear Free People,

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”  Wow!  How perfect is the timing of this devotional?  We were just talking about freedom yesterday during our worship services (which you all were magnificent at btw)  I enjoyed pastor David’s sermon as well, especially the part about “it is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”  It took me a moment to wrap my feeble brain around that.  Lady Avis made a good point as well after the first service.  She said that not only is the slave not free, but the person who is the slave owner is also not free.  The person that has the reins of the yoke is equally enslaved by their desire to enslave someone.  For us, our freedom of choice to be in union with Christ is a beautiful gift from God above.  And as we are in union, we reflect the glory of God as we are transformed into His likeness.  Shine on my friends!  Peace and Love, Scott
p.s.  you should be able to listen to Christmas music below!  Hope this helps you in your preparation.  Thanks for your faithfulness!

I Designed You

to live in union with Me.  This union does not negate who you are; it actually makes you more fully yourself.  When you try to live independently of Me, you experience emptiness and dissatisfaction.  You may gain the whole worldand yet loose everything that really counts.

Find fulfillment through living close to Me, yielding to My purposes for you.  Though I may lead you along paths that feel alien to you, trust that I know what I am doing.  If you follow Me wholeheartedly, you will discover facets of yourself that were previously hidden.  I know you intimately-far better than you know yourself.  In union with Me, you are complete.  In closeness to Me, you are transformed more and more into the one I designed you to be.

Mark 8:36 36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

Psalm 139:13-16
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18
17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
