February 19 devotional

Dear Friends,
It’s been a while since I’ve sent a devotional.  So sorry about that.  In a way, I have been feeling a bit “weighed down” by several issues.  Life is just that way isn’t it?  However, we do have a Savior who gently calls us to Him with all our problems, big and small.  God never said He’d solve our problems for us, although sometimes He does, but rather, Christ’s grace, mercy and power is enough to see us through whatever we’re facing.  We are not alone!  So, no matter what, “rejoice in the Lord, be joyful in God our Savior”.  Peace and Love!  Scott

You Are Feeling Weighed Down by a plethora of problems, both big and small. They seem to require more and more of your attention, but you must not give in to those demands. When the difficulties in your life feel as if they’re closing in on you, break free by spending quality time with Me. You need to remember who I Am in all My Power and Glory. Then humbly bring Me your prayers and petitions; your problems will pale when you view them in the Light of My Presence. You can learn to be joyful in Me, your Savior, even in the midst of adverse circumstances. Rely on Me, your Strength; I will make your feet like the feet of a deer, enabling you to go on the heights.
Exodus 3:14 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ “

Habakkuk 3:17-19 17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments.

Dear Fearless Ones!
Do you consider yourself fearless?  God calls each of us to a worry-free, fearless life!  When you start down that path of worrying and feeling yourself getting all worked up over the problems that come your way, remember who holds you in the palm of His hand.  Take a deep breath, say “I trust you Lord”, and walk boldly through each and every day.  Peace and Love Friends, Scott

Give Yourself Fully to the adventure of today.  Walk boldly along the path of Life, relying on your ever-present Companion.  You have every reason to be confident, because My Presence accompanies you all the days of your life-and onward into eternity.  Do not give in to fear or worry, those robbers of abundant living.  Trust Me enough to face problems as they come, rather than trying to anticipate them.  Fix your eyes on Me, the Author and Perfecter of your faith, and many difficulties on the road ahead will vanish before you reach them.  Whenever you start to feel afraid, remember that I am holding you by your right hand.  Nothing can separate you from My Presence!

Hebrews 12:2 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Isaiah 41:14
14 Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel,  for I myself will help you,” declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Dearly Beloved,
Ever get the feeling that you’re in a mental and spiritual tug-of-war?  So many people and things constantly pulling at us, vying for our attention.  Many of these attention grabbers are certainly necessary, but many are not.  The media fills our minds with tons of messages that quite often are not healthy for our spiritual well being.  It’s hard to avoid them completely, but when you turn your focus to Christ, during prayer time and throughout your busy day, all is in divine order.  You are thinking in Spirit and your words and actions will reflect your spiritual focus.  Be blessed in this my friends!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am Ever So Near You, hovering over your shoulder, reading every thought.  People think that thoughts are fleeting and worthless, but yours are precious to Me.  I smile when you think lovingly of Me.  My Spirit, who lives within you, helps you to think My thoughts.  As your thinking goes, so goes your entire being.

Let Me be your positive Focus.  When you look to Me, knowing Me as God with you, you experience Joy.  This is according to My ancient design, when I first crafted man.  Modern man seeks his positive focus elsewhere: in sports, sensations, acquiring new possessions.  Advertising capitalizes on the longing of people for a positive focus in their lives.  I planted that longing in human souls, knowing that only I could fully satisfy it.  Delight yourself in Me; let Me become the Desire of your heart.

Matthew 1:23 23″The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”

Psalm 37:4
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Dear Friends,
Love this new sermon series “Finisher”.  As I watch our olympic hopefuls bring all they’ve got to the olympic stage, I am inspired by their tireless commitment to their sport.  Hours and hours are spent perfecting each move, training their bodies to not only endure, but excel.  We, as Christians, are in training too!  Every day is an “event” of sorts.  Our “performance” is really up to us individually.  Our coach, Jesus, is always there to encourage us, help us and pick us up when we fall.  What’s important is to get up, dust ourselves off and keep trying!  Don’t give up!  The prize awaits in heaven!  Be blessed on your quest friends.  Peace and Love, Scott

My Peace is like a shaft of golden Light shining on you continuously. During days of bright sunshine, it may blend in with your surroundings. On darker days, My Peace stands out in sharp contrast to your circumstances. See times of darkness as opportunities for My Light to shine in transcendent splendor. I am training you to practice Peace that overpowers darkness. Collaborate with Me in this training. Do not grow weary or lose heart.

John 1:4-5 4In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. 5And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].

Hebrews 12:3 3  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Dear Friends,
Time with God.  Sometimes, this is forced upon us through an illness or other circumstance.  Most of the time, it is something we have to make time for.  I love the second paragraph of this devotional.  As a guy who is constantly “on the go” and all for good reasons, it’s important to think about the value of what I’m doing in light of the eternal Kingdom.  This is a great question to ask before I say “yes” to something.  What sort of Kingdom building value does this act have?  Chew on that a while and let me know your thoughts!  Be blessed dear ones, Scott

Trust Me Enough to spend time with Me, pushing back the demands of the day.  Refuse to feel guilty about something that is so pleasing to Me, the King of the universe.  Because I am omnipotent, I am able to bend time and events in your favor.  You will find that you can accomplish more in less time, after you have given yourself to Me in rich communion.  Also, as you align yourself with My perspective, you can sort out what is important and what is not.

Don’t fall into the trap of being constantly on the go.  Many, many things people do in My Name have no value in My kingdom.  To avoid doing meaningless works, stay in continual communication with Me.  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

Luke 10:41-42
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Psalm 32:8 (NASB) 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
