September 10th Devotional

Dear Friends,
If you’ve ever read the books of other religions, you’ll quickly notice that most of them are devoid of a few fundamental Christian values:  Love, Sacrifice, Grace and a Living Lord.  Because we serve a resurrected Lord and Savior, He can honestly say “I’ll never leave you”.  That’s comforting to me.  So, if you’re feeling a little distant from Him, know that you can always come back.  He’s ready, willing and wanting to be with you!  Be blessed.  Hugs and Love, Scott

I Am Always Available To You.  Once you have trusted Me as your Savior, I never distance Myself from you.  Sometimes you may feel distant from Me.  Recognize that as feeling; do not confuse it with reality.  The bible is full of My promises to be with you always.  As I assured Jacob, when he was journeying away from home into unknown places, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.  My last recorded promise to My followers was:Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Let these assurances of My continual Presence fill you with Joy and Peace.  No Matter what you may lose in this life, you can never lose your relationship with Me.

Isaiah 54:10
10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken “nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Genesis 28:15
15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Matthew 28:20
20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

September 9th Devotional

Dear Friends,
As I was swimming the first mile of the 37.2 miles of my triathlon last Saturday, I found myself praying to God.  I said many prayers during the 3 1/2 hours of swimming, biking and running.  My prayer in Joe Pool lake was “Lord, make my path straight”!  I found myself zig-zagging from buoy to buoy.  It was difficult to stay in a straight line with no point of reference beneath me as in a pool.  It’s important to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus during this journey we call “life”.  We will all waver at times, but the important thing is to get back on track and trust Him completely.  Be Blessed!

Walk With Me Along Paths Of Trust.  The most direct route between point A and point B on our life-journey is the path of unwavering trust in Me.  When your faith falters, you choose a trial that meanders and takes you well out of your way.  You will get to point B eventually, but you will have lost precious time and energy.  As soon as you realize you have wandered from you trust-path, look to Me and whisper, “I trust You, Jesus.”  This affirmation will help you get back on track.

The farther you roam along paths of unbelief, the harder it is to remember that I am with you.  Anxious thoughts branch off in all directions, taking you farther and farther from awareness of My Presence.  You need to voice your trust in Me frequently.  This simple act of faith will keep you walking along straight paths with Me.  Trust in Me with all your heart, and I will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 26:4
4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

Psalm 9:10
10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 25:5
5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

September 9th Devotional

Dear Friends,
So, it’s been a rather difficult Monday all day.  Ever have days like that?  Some of you may have weeks like that!  But even in the midst of tribulation and trials, God says to trust Him and He will help us crawl out of the mire of difficulties in which we find ourselves.  Fear not, He will sustain!  Be blessed in this my beloved.  Hugs, Scott

Accept Each Day exactly as it comes to you.  By that, I mean not only the circumstances of your day but also the condition of your body.  Your assignment is to trust Me absolutely, resting in My sovereignty and faithfulness.

On some days, your circumstances and your physical condition feel out of balance: the demands on you seem far greater than your strength.  Days like that present a choice between two alternatives-giving up or relying on Me.  Even if you wrongly choose the first alternative, I will not reject you.  You can turn to Me at any point, and I will help you crawl out of the mire of discouragement.  I will infuse My strength into you moment by moment, giving you all that you need for this day.  Trust Me, by relying on My empowering Presence.

Psalm 42:5  5 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him.

2 Corinthians 13:4
4For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him to serve you.

Jeremiah 31:25
25 I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

Organ Concert

Ken Surely is a fabulous organist and accompanist who accompanied us on our England/Scotland trip some years ago.  He’s celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Range Pipe organ installed at Plymouth Park UMC in Irving.  He’ll be playing an all Bach recital that is sure to please.  It’s well worth the trip to Irving to hear this magnificent organ played by a master organist.

September 5 Devotional

Dear Friends,

This beautiful devotional reminds me that we are never alone in our struggles and hardships.  Only God can create something out of nothing and turn our sorrows into joy.  Be blessed as you read on.  Peace and Love, Scott
__________________________________________________________________
I Am Your Best Friend, as well as your King.  Walk hand in hand with Me through your life.  Together we will face whatever each day brings: pleasures, hardships, adventures, disappointments.  Nothing is wasted when it is shared with Me.  I can bring beauty out of the ashes of lost dreams.  I can glean Joy out of sorrow, Peace out of adversity.  Only a Friend who is also the King of kings could accomplish this divine alchemy.  There is no other like Me!

The friendship I offer you is practical and down-to-earth, yet it is saturated with heavenly glory.  Living in My Presence means living in two realms simultaneously: the visible world and unseen eternal reality.  I have equipped you to stay conscious of Me while walking along dusty, earthbound paths.

John 15:13-15  13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command.15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Isaiah 61:3
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
