Refresh Yourself in the Peace of My Presence. This Peace can be your portion at all times and in all circumstances. Learn to hide in the secret of My Presence, even as you carry out your duties in the world. I am both with you and within you. I go before you to open up the way, and I also walk alongside you. There could never be another companion as devoted as I am.

Because I am your constant Companion, there should be a lightness to your step that is observable to others. Do not be weighed down with problems and unresolved issues, for I am your burden-bearer. In the world you have trials and distress, but don’t let them get you down. I have conquered the world and deprived it of power to harm you. In Me you may have confident Peace.

Belinda Curtis’s stepfather passed away and decisions to make regarding her mom’s care.
Travel mercies for all those making holiday trips.
Those spending first Christmas without a loved one.

December 21 Devotional

My Plan For Your Life is unfolding before you. Sometimes the road you are traveling seems closed, or it opens up so painfully slowly that you must hold yourself back. Then, when time is right, the way before you suddenly clears-through no effort of your own. What you have longed for and worked for I present to you freely, as pure gift. You feel awed by the ease with which I operate in the world, and you glimpse My Power and My Glory.

Do not fear your weakness, for it is the stage on which My Power and Glory perform most brilliantly. As you persevere along the path I have prepared for you, depending on My strength to sustain you, expect to see miracles-and you will. Miracles are not always visible to the naked eye, but those who live by faith can see them clearly. Living by faith, rather than sight, enables you to see My Glory.

True or Truth?

As we quickly come to the end of another Christmas season, I had a couple of thoughts that I wanted to share with you. Many times we tend to get caught up in a personal or spiritual debate regarding the truth of the stories in the Bible. It’s easy to do. I recently saw a special on the scientific proof of the Biblical epic parting of the Red Sea. After an hour of theoretically dissecting every aspect of the miracle, scientists came to the conclusion that indeed, it was possible for this to happen if several weather related phenomenon occurred at a precise moment in time. I believe that it still ultimately comes down to our faith that God could create the coincidence for this occurrence. Likewise, how could God become man? This story of a baby in a manger in Bethlehem, born of a virgin, announced by angels and visited by the poorest of the poor and the richest of the rich. A beautiful story, but is it true? Here’s the “truth” of the story. God loves you so much that He found a way to be in a relationship with us through His son, Jesus Christ. He came as a baby and died as a man to prove that He would do anything to be with us. Anything! Now that’s love my friends. A gift from God Himself to all of us. Accept it, rejoice in it, live it, share it and have a very Merry Christmas! Hugs, Dr. Scott

Your Longing For Heaven Is Good, because it is an extension of your yearning for Me. The hope of heaven is meant to strengthen and encourage you, filling you with wondrous Joy. Many Christians have misunderstood this word hope, believing that it denotes wishful thinking. Nothing could be farther from the truth! As soon as I became your Savior, heaven became your ultimate destination. The phrase hope of heaven highlights the benefits you can enjoy even while remaining on earth. This hope keeps you spiritually alive during dark times of adversity; it brightens your path and heightens your awareness of My Presence. Living in collaboration with Me is the way to instill meaning into your days. Begin each day alone with Me, so that you can experience the reality of My Presence. Oh how He loves you and me!  Be blessed, rest assured and know that the Creator of the universe is knows you and cares deeply for you.  Powerful thoughts.

I Am Taking Care Of You.  Feel the warmth and security of being enveloped in My loving Presence.  Every detail of your life is under My control.  Moreover, everything fits into a pattern for good, to those who love Me and are called according to My design and purpose.

Because the world is in an abnormal, fallen condition, people tend to think that chance governs the universe.  Events may seem to occur randomly, with little or no meaning.  People who view the world this way have overlooked one basic fact:  the limitations of human understanding.  What you know of the world you inhabit is only the tip of the iceberg.  Submerged beneath the surface of the visible world are mysteries too vast for you to comprehend.  If you could only see how close I am to you and how constantly I work on your behalf, you would never again doubt that I am wonderfully caring for you.  This is why you must walk by faith, not by sight; trusting in My mysterious, majestic Presence.

December 9 Devotional

Be Willing to go out on a limb with Me.  If that is where I am leading you, it is the safest place to be.  Your desire to live a risk-free life is a form of unbelief.  Your longing to live close to Me is at odds with your attempts to minimize risk.  You are approaching a crossroad in your journey.  In order to follow Me wholeheartedly, you must relinquish your tendency to play it safe.

Let Me lead you step by step through this day.  If your primary focus is on Me, you can walk along perilous paths without being afraid.  Eventually, you will learn to relax and enjoy the adventure of our journey together.  As long as you stay close to Me.  My sovereign Presence protects you wherever you go.

Psalm 23:4 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 9:10 10 Those who know your name will trust in you,  for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

1 Corinthians 13-Christmas Version

I keep a lot of stuff (notice my office and my large files on the church computer!).  I kept this so that I could read it during the busiest weeks of the year to make sure my priorities are properly arranged in the order of most importance.  I pray you find it a blessing as well.  Merry Christmas with LOTS of LOVE! 

First Corinthians 13 — Christmas Version

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strings of

twinkling lights, and shiny balls, but do not show love to my

family, I am just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I am just another cook.

If I work at a soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give

all I have to charity, but do not show love to my

family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crystal snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata,

but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child, or kiss the husband.

Love is kind, though harried or tired.

Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas

china and table linens.

Love doesn’t yell at the kids or other family to get out of the

way, but is thankful that they are there to get in

the way.

Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can’t.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and

endures all things.

Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be

lost, and golf clubs will rust.

But giving the gift of love will endure.
