April 9 Devotional

Dear Beloved,
My dad was a fireman all his life.  And I, like most boys, wanted to grow up to be a fireman.  I think even boys whose dads aren’t fireman often want this life of riding on bright red fire engines, putting our fires and saving people from their fiery fate.  Even though I don’t don a fire helmet or ride in a red fire engine, sometimes I feel like a fireman going hither and yon putting out all the problem fires that seem to pop up in my life.  Maybe you feel this way too.  Going from “fire” to “fire”, or from problem to problem each and every day.  It’s easy to get into problem solving mode and forget that we have a Savior waiting to help us and just to be near us.  Read on and know that He is always there for you, ready to give you peace and help you with your problems.  Hugs, Scott

You Are Mine For All Time ; nothing can separate you from My Love. Since I have invested My very Life in you, be well assured that I will also take care of you. When your mind goes into neutral and your thoughts flow freely, you tend to feel anxious and alone. Your focus becomes problem solving. To get your mind back into gear, just turn toward Me, bringing yourself and your problems into My Presence.

Many problems vanish instantly in the Light of My Love, because you realize you are never alone. Other problems may remain, but they become secondary to knowing Me and rejoicing in the relationship I so freely offer you. Each moment you can choose to practice My Presence or to practice the presence of problems.

Romans 8:38-39: 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Exodus 33:14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you , and I will give you rest.”

April 8 Devotional

Dear Friends,
This reminds me of a joke Pastor Mike likes to tell.  It’s the story of an old farmer and his wife sitting in front of the pickup truck as it barrels down the road.  He’s driving, as usual, and she’s sitting on the passenger side next to the door.  After moments of silence, she sighs and says to her husband, “remember how we used to sit next to each other in this truck.  You couldn’t get a piece of paper between us we were so close.”  He turns and says, “I ain’t moved”.  Our relationship with our Heavenly Father is the most important relationship in our lives.  Make time to be with Him every day.  He’s always waiting to hear from you.  Read on for words of encouragement.  Peace and Love!

I Am With You And For You, your constant Companion and Provider. The question is whether you are with Me and for Me. Though I never leave you, you can essentially “leave” Me by ignoring Me: thinking or acting as if I am not with you. When you feel distance in our relationship, you know where the problem lies. My Love for you is constant; I am the same yesterday, today and  forever.  It is you who change like shifting sand, letting circumstances toss you this way and that.

When you feel far from Me, whisper My Name. This simple act, done in childlike faith, opens your heart to My Presence. Speak to Me in love-tones; prepare to receive My Love, which flows eternally from the cross. I am delighted when you open yourself to My loving Presence.

Genesis 28:15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever.

Heartfelt Thanks!

I just want to express my thanks to the choir for the sweet card and generous gift you gave me last night! I am truely humbled by the outpouring of love from everyone as we wait for our little bundle of joy to be born. I tell Annelise all the time that she is such a blessed little girl because she already has so many people that love her, even though they have not met her yet! I am so blessed to be a part of this church and to have the priviledge to get to serve along such dedicated volunteers in the music department. I love you all and thank you so much for your love and support and like I said last night, I can’t wait for you all to meet my little girl! Thank you again!

April 4 Devotional

Dear Friends,
I love how God recognizes our efforts to connect with Him, even if our attempts seem futile. He honors our attempt and says “keep trying…keep seeking me”.  That gives me hope!  I pray you will find some quiet time today or this weekend.  It is rare and precious indeed!  So, nourish your soul so that you can be fully who God created you to be.  I look forward to sharing in worship with you this Sunday.  It’s good to be home!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Meet You in the stillness of your soul.  It is there that I seek to commune with you.  A person who is open to My Presence is exceedingly precious to Me.  My eyes search to and fro throughout the earth, looking for one whose heart is seeking Me.  I see you trying to find Me; our mutual search results in joyful fulfillment.

Stillness of soul is increasingly rare in this world addicted to speed and noise.  I am pleased with your desire to create a quiet space where you and I can meet. Don’t be discouraged by the difficulty of achieving this goal.  I monitor all your efforts and am blessed by each of your attempts to seek My Face.

I pray that you will receive the gift of contentment in knowing that in Christ, you are complete.  This is freeing and empowering as you can then refocus your attention on the things that matter most. Those things that are unseen and eternal.  Be blessed in this my friends.  Peace and Love, Scott

In Me You Have Everything.  In Me you are complete. Your capacity to experience Me is increasing, through My removal of debris and clutter from your heart. As your yearning for Me increases, other desires are gradually lessening. Since I am infinite and abundantly accessible to you, desiring Me above all else is the best way to live.

It is impossible for you to have a need that I cannot meet. After all, I created you and everything that is. The world is still at My beck and call, though it often appears otherwise. Do not be fooled by appearances. Things that are visible are brief and fleeting, while things that are invisible are everlasting.

April 2 Devotional

Dear Friends,
Just a quick note on this Tuesday after Easter to say how proud I am of each of you.  The music you made on Easter was absolutely GLORIOUS!  So many people have stopped me in parking lots, in buildings and here at church to say how blessed they were by your outpouring of heartfelt singing and playing.  You totally outdid yourselves and represented your Lord and Savior with love, dignity and humility all rolled into one.  If I were one who did not know that Jesus died for me, was raised from the dead and came to give me abundant life, by the end of the hour, there was no doubt!  I would have wanted what YOU all portrayed through music and drama. So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  All of the planning, prayer and practice means nothing if you don’t have the faithful committed to the cause.  And that you are.  I am eternally grateful and thankful for each and every one of you.  What a glorious, musical and spiritual March!  You did it!  God indeed is good and has kept His promise to meet all of our needs according to His rich grace.  Thanks be to God!  Peace, Love and Hugs, Scott

I Have Promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches.  Your deepest, most constant need is for My Peace.  I have planted Peace in the garden of your heart, where I live; but there are weeds growing there too: pride, worry, selfishness, unbelief.  I am the Gardener, and I am working to rid your heart of these weeds.  I do My work in various ways.  When you sit quietly with Me, I shine the Light of My Presence directly into your heart.  In this heavenly Light, Peace grows abundantly and weeds shrivel up.  I also send trials into your life.  When you trust Me in the midst of trouble, Peace flourishes and weeds die away.  Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure.

March 28 Devotional

Dear Friends,
I hope you and your family, friends and loved ones will take a moment tonight to participate in Holy Communion between the hours of 6pm and 8pm.  This reflective service will be a blessing to you and yours I’m sure.  On this Holy Thursday we will once again remember the great sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who took the act of Passover and turned it into an act of Christian worship.  As you pray tonight, pray that God would also prepare your hearts, minds, bodies and spirits to lead in worship on Friday and Sunday. As worship leaders, God is working through you and in you to spread the message of salvation to a hurting world.  In this way, we are indeed, partners with God on a Holy quest.  Be blessed on this journey as you continue to faithfully serve, sing and play for Him!  Peace and Love, Scott

I Am A God Who Gives and gives and gives.  When I died for you on the cross, I held back nothing; I poured out My Life like a drink offering.  Because giving is inherent in My nature, I search for people who are able to receive in full measure.  To increase your intimacy with Me, the two traits you need the most are receptivity and attentiveness.  Receptivity is opening up your innermost being to be filled with My abundant riches.  Attentiveness is directing your gaze to Me: searching for Me in all your moments.  It is possible to stay your mind on Me, as the prophet Isaiah wrote.  Through such attentiveness you receive a glorious gift: My perfect Peace.
