August 13 Devotional

Dear Friends,
You are to be shining examples of what it means to be a Christian and to live a Christian life.  Thus, your life is a witness of what it feels like to be a disciple of Christ.  While we were on tour in Italy and singing our concerts, one of the many responses we got from our listeners and watchers was that we “sang with such heart and passion”.  I’m not so sure that choirs in the past sang sacred music with spirit-filled passion and pure joy.  Of all of the music available to us, why wouldn’t we sing with heart and passion while singing about God and our Savior Jesus Christ!?  So, believe me, folks are watching and trying to decide if being a Christian is really the way to life a full, happy and joyful life.  Show and tell them it is!  Peace and Love, Scott

Learn To Enjoy Life More.  Relax, remembering that I am God with you.  I crafted you with enormous capacity to know Me and enjoy My Presence.  When My people wear sour faces and walk through their lives with resigned rigidity, I am displeased.  When you walk through a day with childlike delight, savoring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Me, your ever-present Shepherd.  The more you focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life.  Glorify Me through your pleasure in Me.  Thus you proclaim My Presence to the watching world.
Matthew 1:23  23″The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”
John 10:10-11  10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. 11″I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

August 12 Devotional

Dear Friends,
It was great being in worship with you yesterday.  I’m very excited to have new folks coming into our choir family and orchestra family (two new violinists!).  As we get closer to the start of a new school year and a new fall/Christmas season, I am reminded by the devotional below to not be afraid of being weak and weary.  It is indeed in our weakness that Christ is able to do His best work!  This spiritual codependency was designed by God to keep us close to Him throughout our days.  Embrace this beautiful relationship and be blessed!  Peace and Love, Scott

 _________________________________________
Come To Me when you are weak and weary.  Rest snugly in My everlasting arms.  I do not despise your weakness, My child.  Actually, it draws Me closer to you, because weakness stirs up My compassion–My yearning to help.  Accept yourself in your weariness, knowing that I understand how difficult your journey has been.

Do not compare yourself with others, who seem to skip along their life–paths with ease.  Their journeys have been different from yours, and I have gifted them with abundant energy.  I have gifted you with fragility, providing opportunities for your spirit to blossom in My Presence.  Accept this gift as a sacred treasure delicate, yet glowing with brilliant Light.  Rather than struggling to disguise or deny your weakness, allow Me to bless you richly through it.

Isaiah 42:3  3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice

Isaiah 54:10 10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Romans 8:26 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

July 31 devotional

Dear Friends,

Beautiful words to live by.  I like the fact that when I’m having trouble being in communion with my Lord, I find no condemnation.  Only patience and forgiveness.  May you find time today and every day to be with Him.  Peace Friends!  See you tonight!

______________________________________________________________

Trust Me in the depths of your being.  It is there that I live in constant communion with you.  When you feel flustered and frazzled on the outside, do not get upset with yourself.  You are only human, and the swirl of events going on all around you will sometimes feel overwhelming.  Rather than scolding yourself for your humanness, remind yourself that I am both with you and within you.

I am with you at all times,
encouraging and supportive rather than condemning.  I know that deep within you, where I live, My Peace is your continual experience.  Slow down your pace of living for a time.  Quiet your mind in My Presence.  Then you will be able to hear Me bestowing the resurrection blessing: Peace Be with you.

Colossians 1:27  27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Matthew 28:20
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 20:19
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Feeling a slight “tug”?  Read on.  See you Wednesday friends!  Hugs, Scott

Come To Me Continually.  I am meant to be the Center of Your consciousness, the Anchor of your soul.  Your mind will wander from Me, but the question is how far you allow it to wander.  An anchor on a short rope lets a boat drift only slightly before the taut line tugs the boat back toward the center.  Similarly, as you drift away from Me, My Spirit within you gives a tug, prompting you to return to Me.  As you become increasingly attuned to My Presence, the length of rope on your soul’s Anchor is shortened.  You wander only a short distance before feeling that inner tug–telling you to return to your true Center in Me.

Hebrews 6:19  19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

1 John 2:28  28And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

Matthew 22:37  37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

AA miles for Italy trip

I spent a lot of time on the computer working on getting our miles with AA for the Italy trip.
Here’s the scoop if you wan to pass it along to others:

AA.com
AAdvantage tab (sign in)
My Account
stay on “AAdvantage Account tab”
at bottom of this tab under “Mileage Activity” (under total) is “request credit”.

All our airline codes were all “01”.
The tour company sent out ticket numbers on the roster and is on the bottom of all our ticket stubs.
Each of our ticket numbers remained the same for DFW to LHR, LHR to FLR, and VCE to MAD.
**However, each of our ticket numbers from MAD to DFW went up one digit. (go figure.) This might not apply to those that got their MAD to DFW tickets when they checked in in Venice.

July 25 devotional

Dear Friends,

We have a dove perched underneath the overhang of our sanctuary that seems to have taken up residence there.  I first heard the dove yesterday and it’s still there today.  I’m not sure if it means anything, but hearing it made me smile.  It reminded me of Bible verses and the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus “as a dove” after His baptism.  Perhaps the Holy Spirit is upon us even as I write this.  I’d certainly like to think so.  May you be open to see, feel and encounter God today in whatever form He presents Himself.  Be blessed!  Hugs and Love, Scott

As You Listen to birds calling to one another, hear also My Love-call to you.  I speak to you continually: through sights, sounds, thoughts, impressions, Scripture.  There is no limit to the variety of ways I can communicate with you.  Your part is to be attentive to My messages, in whatever form they come.  When you set out to find Me in a day, you discover that the world is vibrantly alive with My Presence.  You can find Me not only in beauty and bird calls, but also in tragedy and faces filled with grief.  I can take the deepest sorrow and weave it into a pattern for good.

Search for Me and My messages, as you go through this day.  You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with you whole being.

John 10:27  27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Romans 8:28 (AMP)
28 We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

Jeremiah 29:13
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

July 24 devotional

Dear Friends,

I often talk to others about having “an attitude of gratitude” in all things.  It’s true!  It’s a beautiful thing to watch when you give thanks for the good things and see positives instead of negatives.  This takes practice  because it’s not how the world reacts to difficult situations. The media perpetuates this negative sentiment.  Guard yourself and stay on the positive path with Christ as your pilot.  Peace, Scott

Thankfulness Opens The Door to My Presence.  Though I am always with you, I have gone to great measures to preserve your freedom of choice.  I have placed a door between you and Me, and I have empowered you to open or close that door.  There are many ways to open it, but a grateful attitude is one of the most effective.

Thankfulness is built on a substructure of trust.  When thankful words stick in your throat, you need to check up on your foundation of trust.  When thankfulness flows freely from your heart and lips, let your gratitude draw you closer to Me.  I want you to learn the art of giving thanks in all circumstances.  See how many times you can thank Me daily; this will awaken your awareness to a multitude of blessings.  I will also cushion the impact of trials when they come against you.  Practice My Presence by practicing the discipline of thankfulness.

Psalm 100:4   4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
